I GOT ANSWER FROM SENATOR OBAMA
« on: January 14, 2008, 01:59:42 PM »
Thank you for writing to share your concerns about the status of Kosovo.  I appreciate your interest in this important issue.

As you may know, former Finnish President and United Nations envoy Martti Ahtisaari released a report in March saying that independence for Kosovo was the only viable solution to the question of Kosovo's status.  Ahtisaari also outlined a process by which Kosovo's independence would unfold.

Serbia and Russia strongly oppose the idea of Kosovo's independence as well as the plan laid out by President Ahtisaari.  Partly in response to that opposition, the United States recently announced its willingness to give negotiators more time to come to a negotiated agreement on Kosovo's status.  The Administration also announced its interest in discussing this matter with Russia.

I hope that a negotiated agreement results from these talks and that we can peacefully resolve the brewing challenge in Kosovo.  We have seen the impact instability in the Balkans has on Europe, and it is not in our national interest to see a return to the violence and instability of the 1990s.

As Chairman of the Europe Subcommittee of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I will certainly keep your perspective in mind as international discussions continue and as I consider relevant matters before the Senate.

Again, thank you for sharing your perspective.  I look forward to being in touch.

Sincerely,

Barack Obama
United States Senator                                                                                                          I HAVE ASK HIM AND RICHARD DURBIN NOT TO SUPPORET INDEPENDENCY OF KOSOVO!

He's hardly likely to get any sort of reply other than generic campaign speak or an automated response.   I'm taking a poke at the same accusations that Obama's detractors have put on him.  So in all fairness, write a letter to Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul, or Mitt Romney, and see what kind of response you get before you guys start criticizing him.

But then again, most of you aren't really concerned about being fair, are you?
