Happy New Year!!!!!

Raulmarrio2000:
Tonight is the beggining of the Julian New Year 2761 since the Foundation of Rome. I am not defending that the foundation of Rome is a good point to start the Calendar, but it's more neutral than the Gregorian Calendar. If we remember the Christian New Year, why not the Roman one? Happy 2761!!!!

Jasmina:
  HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Raulmarrio2000:
January 1st is not only the date of Jesus' Bris. It was also the beggining of the Year according to the REAL Julian Calendar established by Emperor Julius Caesar in 46 BCE. Originally the Roman Calendar started in March, the month devoted to pagan idol Mars, the g.d of War, in which military campaigns started. When Julius Caesar adopted the Egyptian Calendar of 12 months, he decided to start the years 2 months before March to have time to plan the campaigns. So it is a civil Calendar. Tonight it would be a civil holiday in Rome (if the calendar had not been changed by Christians).
Dec 25th was the day of the sun rebirth, and Jan 1st, the beggining of the year. Later. Christians hijacked those popular dates and explained them according to their religion.
Orthodox Christians celebrate the New Year in spring, and Jesus' bris tonight. Ancient Rome celebrates New Year 2761 tonight, and Rome's aniversary on April 21th ( May 4th, 2008 of the Gregorian Calendar).

Serbian Cetnik (šumadinac):
