Recently I started teaching
religious instruction to a group of 8 year old Catholic children.
It has come to my attention that not many children participate in their religion outside of coming to this one hour class just once a week.
Many have never attended Mass on Sunday.
I know for a fact that most participate on sport teams, take dance or have organized playdates - several times a week.
Parents today seem overly concerned with the
outside of their children - are they in style, have the right haircut and are they carrying the right gadgets.
The inside/core of their child all but forgotten.
I can be guilty of the same at times.
I would like to hear if people think this lack of formal religious practice has an impact on the morality crisis we seem to be suffering under here in the US and abroad.
