Sephardi/Mizrahi Music
jdl4ever:
I like Sefardik cantoral melodies they use during prayer. But I don't like too much the melodies they sing on the Radio. It sounds like Arab songs and doesn't seem to be compatible with modern western musical rythem and melody. It seems like they force it to try and make it compatible but it isn't really compatible.

Does anybody know where I can find Jewish music sung in Arabic? I know it's out there because I remember listening to it years ago.

Didn't the late Ofra Haza sing stuff in Arabic?

I am familiar with the type of Israeli "Yemenite" music I think you are referring to. I don't particularly like it; it comes across, to me, as somewhat artificial and I'm not saying it's bad music. I do, however, enjoy authentic Yemeni music and my friends and I used to sing in Hebrew, Aramaic and Arabic during holiday, Shabbath gatherings. I know that some Moroccan Jews would also sing in Arabic.
