The Associated Press reports Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Dan Rooney endorsed Democratic Senator Barack Obama's presidential bid Monday, April 14. "As a grandfather and a citizen of this community, I think Barack Obama's thoughtful, strategic approach is important to America," Rooney said.
.............................. Normally, I wouldn't be concerned who a Professional Sports Owner endorses for public office. In the case of Dan Rooney though, I'm very concerned.
Dan Rooney, like his father, the late Art Rooney, is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Rooney family and the Steelers in general, are extremely popular in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania. Dan Rooney is the last person in Western Pennsylvania that I wanted to see endorse Barack Hussein Obama. Hopefully, the damage that Rooney caused won't offset Obama's foot in the mouth comments from the other day.
