That loss has its ramifications to this day.

Jeff Jacoby writes a good article on this.

What is the point in trading live terrorists for dead Jewish soldiers.  This is just absurd.  I can't believe it's true that Israel is going to trade Sam Kuntar, the Arab animal who bashed a little Jewish girl's head open on a rock.  This is beyond sick.

I completely agree.   Score 1 for Iran and Hezbolla.   :(

The only way to have won that war was to completely obliterate Hezbolla.  But our politicians are too weak, and short minded to do this.

Not only did Israel lose this war, but over most of the battles more Israeli soldiers were killed than top-echelon, front-line Hezbollah terrorists. This is the first war where Israel lost more men than the Arab Nazis.

Not only did Hezbollah win the war, but it won the war stronger than it began. Because the IAF did not take out the Beirut Airport or completely blocade the coast or use its bunker-busters to destroy Hezbollah's ant-nest of tunnels throughout Lebanon (and northern Israel), it had more Katyusha missiles and other heavy weapons at the cease of the fighting than when it began.

Not only did Israel give up more in this war than in any previous war, but the majority of Israelis--meaning pretty much all that are not on the right--have absolutely no problem with it.

I wish a Hezbollah missile would kill every single Israeli who thinks freeing Kuntar is a good idea.  >:(

Kuntar is now being hailed as a hero by Israel's enemies. The Palestinian Authority calls him a "brave warrior,"

There was a way to win.   Israel wouldn't bomb the civilians.  Hezbolla fires the missles from civilian areas.  So if they aren't going to bomb those areas then, Israel can't win

Don't forget that Kuntar is also hailed as a hero by the Maronite "Christians".

How they could release Kuntar is appauling.  A brutal-viscious,  child murderer. What is the reasoning for this?   Olmert would release Adolf Hitler, if he could get away with it.  No doubt in my mind.

Olmert is a lot like Kuntar. Olmert viciously expels Jewish children from their hilltop homes. If he could get away with murdering them, I am sure he would order his goons to do so.  >:(

Chaim fan...  I know you're right.  He would kill the Jewish settler's children if he could get way with it.  He would have them shot dead.  I put nothing past Olmert.  I mean nothing!

I bet that before he is shipped back to his fellow Hezzie butt pirates, Kuntar will receive a state dinner with Olmert.  >:(

Israel would not have been able to obliterate Hezbollah since they would have just moved to another neighbouring arab country. When Yasser Arafat got kicked out of Jordan, he just moved to Tunisia settled down and recruited more men, then made his way back to attacking Israel with the PLO.

Correction Sarah--nobody tried to obliterate the PLO. The Israelis were always bound to their "commitments" to Reagan, Bush, Clinton, etc. to not harm Arafat.

This is what Israel should have done based on the legality of its military courts to do so:

Sentenced each Islamic terrorist/murderer to death.  For each day an israeli soldier was not returned, one gets executed.  And if that israeli soldier were killed, every single of those prisinors sentenced to death all executed.

And if already executed, bombing runs anywhere and everywhere in Gaza or wherever..and whomever vacates their homes, Israel renders the right to annex those areas.
If someone says something bad about you, say something nice about them. That way, both of you would be lying.

In your heart you know WE are right and in your guts you know THEY are nuts!

Israel lost and will continue to lose and may even be sent back into the GALUT if it keeps breaking its covenant with HASHEM!!!

When the Jews in Israel are righteous they reach the sky, but when they are immoral degenerates they are lower then the mud!

The only hope for Israel are the Hilltop Settlers and few righteous Jews that remain there. Unfortunately the vast majority of Israelis in Tel Aviv, Hafia, Ashkelon, etc.. ignore the Torah at their own peril!

Maybe not to Arafat himself but definitley all the fighters of Fatah, al-asifa and Hezbolla.....all of which came under the PLO. Although the PLO became recognized by the UN, America hated and refused to have talks with Arafat until he renounced terrorism publically (he didnt exactly stick to it I know).

Sarah what are you talking about?  Arafat and the PLO were expelled from LEBANON , to Tunis, and it was President Ronald Reagan who personally sent in a military escort to protect Arafat and all his PLO thugs from the IDF who were fighting against the genocidal Lebanese Muslim Nazis who had teamed up with the PLO and Syrian Nazis to exterminate Lebanese Christians and fire into Northern Israel.  They could have wiped out him and all his cohorts in Lebanon if not for US intervention and spinelessness in the upper eschelons of the Israeli establishment who didn't have the guts to tell the  US no and do what had to be done.   Jordan and Syria also expelled arafat at some point, but this has no relevance to the issue of Hezbollah.   The IDF could have obliterated the PLO in Lebanon.

The same is true for Hezbollah.   If the Israeli govt was willing to fight a real war, they could have annihilated that entire movement, and once a person is dead, he can't get up and walk anywhere to set up shop in any other Arab countries.
