Joshua Sharf winner in Colorado GOP State House seat primary
In both Colorado and Connecticut, one a Republican State House Seat race in Denver and the other, a Democratic US Congressional House seat primary in the nutmeg state Fourth C.D., anti-Semites Rima Barakat Sinclair and L. Lee Whitnum were consigned to the dust bin of political history. Good riddance.
The good news from the Mile High City came in this Denver Post Politics West Post by Ross Kaminsky, “Congratulations to the Winners”.
Congratulations to Joshua Sharf, whose Gang of Four spot I took when he decided to run for office. With 80% in, Joshua is leading by 70% to 30%, defeating the anti-Semitic Rima Barakat soundly as she so richly deserved.
Kol hakavod to Josh Sharf and all of his Colorado House GOP primary supporters. A fitting culmination to a bizarre campaign that pitted Islamist terrorist and pro-Palestinian supporter Barakat-Sinclair against Orthodox Jew and pro-Israel supporter and ‘real conservative’ Sharf.
We are still waiting, but not with baited breath, for Barakat-Sinclair’s capitulation press release. That should be a noisy denunciation of the Jewish media cabal arrayed against her in the largely Jewish and Democratic Colorado House District Six seat that she caterwauled about in interviews with Jordanian newspapers that we posted a report on, yesterday.
Meanwhile back east, anti-Semitic Ms. L.Lee Whitnum lost resoundingly in the Democratic primary for the US House seat in the Connecticut Fourth Congressional District. Her opponent from tony Greenwich, Connecticut, Jim Himes, a former banker and community housing foundation director, swamped Whitnum, 92 to 8% with 80% of the vote reporting. Whitnum had run a petition campaign forcing a primary vote, akin to what Sharf did to enter the Colorado State House seat race. Sharf won, Whitnum lost. Whitnum, as Bill Levinson had posted yesterday, had railed against “the Jewish Lobby”, said that 9/11 was caused by the Arab Israeli conflict and that the US should have left Afghanistan to the Taliban. She hopefully will not surface in the political scene in the nutmeg state.
Himes goes up against moderate Republican Chris Shays who has served 20 years in this important Connecticut congressional seat. Both candidates are good friends of Israel, although Shays has a long history of Congressional support for the Jewish state. His Democratic opponent Himes intends to make a major issue in his upcoming campaing of Shays support of the Iraq war. But that may be mooted by the successful ’surge’ strategy of CENTCOMM Commander General Petreaus and the likely conclusion of a Security Agreement between the US and Iraq supporting a possible early departure schedule for US troops. Should US Senator John McCain be elected President in November,but , the Democrats retake a solid majority in both the US House and Senate, we would not be terribly surprised if Independent Connecticut Senator Lieberman ends up with a possible McCain Cabinet post and Connecticut’s Republican Governor M. Jody Rell appoints Shay to fill the vacated Senate position. But we’ll see how that plays out.
Meanwhile, we, and many others, are happy to see these rabidly anti-Semitic and anti-Israel GOP and Democratic candidates swept aside on these State and Congressional primaries.
