What is your idea about the European Union

Why would any sane person want to unite different nations together and destroy their unique identity? Yes, there is a collective idea of "European", but each culture should remain distinct to some extent.

They don't have to destroy the individual nations, just to form loose confederacy free from internal economic barriers. Id they adopt uniform trade and foreign policies they will be better posed to compete with giants like USA, Russia and China.

Of course I am in favour of free trade, but this can be archieved by trade contracts between the countries.
I like, that I am able to travel to Great Britain and the Netherlands, but the bad side is too strong.

What I find SOOO strange is that, in most of the EU-zone, the Church has lesser and lesser attendees.
The Church used to be anti-semitic in most countries. It had power, because of the people attending the masses.
Now that the left-wing has taken over the power to indoctrinate the people by the mass-media, and for sure, it is anti-Israel as well...
Now I wonder, whether the Church has power behind the scenes in media-land, and is trying to enforce polical correctness and anti-Zionism in Europe.
It is clear, the Church is NOT leading the rebellion against the islamisation, but that it is even collaborating with the muslims.
Is the Church a factor behind the E.U. to restore the Emiprium Romanum, in order to recapture Israel!?
Any ideas?!
