Few people know the name Mordechai Anielewicz, but to me, he was one of the greatest heros of the 20th century. While most Jews during the holocaust went to their deaths with resignation, Anielewicz fought to his death. He was only 19 years old. The tragedy is, that many Jews have forgotten that life is of ultimate importance. Jewish leaders in Israel have lowered the price of Jewish blood to the point of worthlessness.
Anielewicz's last written words can teach us all a valuable lesson:
"Be well, my friend! Perhaps we will see one another again. The most important thing is that my life's dream has come true. Jewish self-defense in the ghetto has been realized. Jewish retaliation and resistance has become a fact. I have been witness to the magnificent heroic battle of the Jewish fighters."
