Have you ever drunk wine made from fruits other than grapes?
« on: November 06, 2008, 02:30:37 PM »
In my local supermarket, they have a new offer from all kind of wines from different fruits.

I.e. sloe, cherry, apple, blueberry etc.

They have wine from bee-honey too.

I have bought two bottles. One from cherry and one from sloe.

It tastes different, but good.

Have you ever tried this kind of beverage?

Well, besides the obvious that the pear wine tastes like pear...
The pear wine tastes a little like pear flavored zinfidel.
The rice wine, I think we're already familliar with.
The plum wine was very sweat. It had a little piece of green plum with the pit still intact.
The pomegranate wine was a little tart and a little sugary.
The raspberry wine hardly tasted like wine. It was more like wine flavored raspberry juice.

Interesting. The sloe wine tastes strange but good. It was slightly sweet and fruity. But it has not even a impression from real wine. The cherry wine tastes familar, like a sweet white wine with the aroma of cherries.

P.S.: The two fruit wines have a very small ammount of alcohol. 7-8%.
