How do you convince a really hard headed person of the dangers of Islam in the U.S?
I got into an argument on another board with a lady.
She says:
> Christians, Jews and Muslims all worship the same God
>It's not the  Islam religion, it's that a few have hijacked it.
>I'm a bigot, Muslim basher, etc.
> Obongo is not a Muslim (she voted for McCain and is a Puma)
>America is great because of its tolerance for all religions.
(I told her it was because of the moral teaching of Christians/Jews that this country was founded upon was what made this country great.

Most muslims would want Sharia in America.  It's an ideal for them. To have it in the whole world infact.  Any honest muslims will say this(I've asked them).  The moderate ones will also say so, but since they are a minority, they lack the strength, they will say "not by force".  If they were a majourity there is no question that they would exploit the democracy and they would get rid of it in place of Sharia. And if they had the strength they'd make america under Sharia too.

You can come back to that point.

They worship a g-d that wants Sharia in America. Jews and Christians don't. It's not the same G-d.

Another way of looking at what is "true islam", other than looking at mohammed his life , his wars , his words.. Is to look at what the top authorities say.

The head of Al Azhar university, the most prestigious islammic school, is Sheikh Tantawi. He supports suicide bombing (he supports it against israel).
There is a position that changes frequently(I mean they keep hiring new imams in), but a few years ago I read that the head of the grand mosque in mecca, a well respected scholar, has spoken against jews and christians. He was invited intio britain and embraced.   I bet the current head also does , prob every one has.

Other terrorist types, like Yussuf Al Qaradawi, again, invited in and embraced by muslims in britiain as a top scholar , yet he supports suicide bombing (against israel).

it is not that important whether islam is truly a religion of war or a religion of peace.   or war when war and peace when prace. Or war all the time, or whatever.  What matters is the reality of islam.
And the reality is as described.

i'll see if I can find some quotes

"There is a very big difference between terrorists
and those who defend their land. We are in solidarity with the
Palestinian people because they are right."
Sheik Muhammad Sayed Tantawi (head al azhar )

Israeli citizens are "forces of occupation." Therefore "martyrdom
operations ... (are the) highest form of jihad operations. Suicide
attacks are "an Islamic commandment until the people of Palestine
regain their land and cause the cruel Israeli aggression to retreat."
-- Sheikh Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi, the head of Al Azhar
University in Egypt, April 4, 2002

Al Azhar is in egypt, but it's so prestigious, all muslims look to it. (i'm not sure about shia. But sunni certainly).

teachings in various mosques in saudi arabia (saudi arabia is of course the heart, the spiritual center of islam)
http://www.memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Area=sr&ID=SR01002

Regarding another HUGE religious authority.
for saudi arabia. the muslim heartland
There was this famous story.. about the Pokemon. But look at the sheikh behind it!

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah al-Sheikh , the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia
"
Riyadh - Saudi Arabia's mufti, the highest religious authority in the conservative Muslim state, has banned the popular children's game of Pokemon for being too much like gambling and suspiciously Jewish, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

In a fatwa, or religious edict, Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah al-Sheikh urged "all Muslims to beware of this game and prevent their children from playing it so as to protect their religion and manners," the newspaper said.
"

Those would basically be the 2 biggest muslims.
I don't know if Sheikh Abdullah is still the grand mufti, but if he isn't, I guarantee that he didn't lose his job over what he said! I'm sure it got no criticism at all in saudi arabia, only praise.
