An Israeli soldier has reportedly been killed in clashes erupted between Israel's ground forces and Hamas fighters in Gaza City. The fighting broke out Monday after Israeli tanks entered Gaza City as part of a ground operation launched against the densely populated area late Saturday.
Another Israeli soldier had been killed Sunday, as troops moved deeper into the coastal region.
Earlier in the day, Hamas's military wing declared that its men are fully prepared to fight Israeli forces across the region.
Thus far, the Israeli campaign has claimed the lives of over 555 Palestinians, and has left some 2,790 others wounded.
