Masada2000 Webhost Takes Site Down
March 9, 2007 at 11:01 pm · Filed under Mideast Peace, Jews & Judaism, Science-Technology-Weblogs
The militant Zionist who called himself "Neil Pomper" (possibly Rachel Neuwirth?) may regret bringing to my attention my very own listing in the Masada2000 S.H.I.T. list. He (or "she") thought he was giving me "payback" for having criticized Rachel Neuwirth's abusive behavior toward Jewish peacemakers. I'd heard of the site but never really looked at it. When I DID look at it at "Neil's" urging I was so aghast I started thinking what, if anything, might be done to fight back against the slime-filled attacks on Jewish "traitors" and "fifth columnists" like me and 7,000 others featured there.
I did some research and discovered that the site is hosted by Bsinet.net. A quick call and e-mail to them pointing out some of the more egregious examples of the site's abuse of its victims seems to have persuaded the company to take the site down. I think we all owe a debt of gratitude to Bsinet for understanding how damaging this material was and seeing what it's duty was. I don't know if it's down for good (at least at Bsinet) or whether this is temporary. Of course, in this day and age if one host doesn't want you there are thousands more who will. So unfortunately it won't be that hard to migrate to a new host. But doing even this small bit to defend ourselves against the slime machine is worthwhile. I appreciated this message of encouragement from Helena Cobban, who wrote a terrific 2005 post on the site and its penchant for pornographic abuse:
Thanks so much for being a great citizen and following up on this issue of trying to stop the dissemination of open incitement to hatred and sexual violence!!
If anyone has a Masada2000 siting in the future please let me know. Also, if you can provide any specific information about the owners of this site I'd be grateful. Sunshine cast upon the dark nether spaces is always therapeutic.
And "Neil," maybe next time you'll just keep your big mouth shut?!

Here's one of Kapo Silverstein's posts - how's that for suicidal moral relativism?
Stop Mideast Violence–Negotiate!

All the Massacres (artist: Ben Heine)
I would like to challenge all my fellow bloggers writing about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to post this graphic. I would especially encourage those who blog either from the pro-Israel or pro-Palestinian side to post this as well. Even if you disagree with the sentiments I write below, post this image with your own sentiments. For the sake of peace.
There is a compassion deficit on both sides of this conflict. Of course, it is entirely understandable why this deficit exists. Too much blood has been shed and attitudes harden when there is an unending stream of violence.
But perhaps we can join Ben Heine, the wonderful artist who created this image, by imagining a world in which we put our respective massacres behind us and embrace a future vision of peace between two peoples. We can tell the leaders of the U.S., Israel and Palestine that we are tired of massacres. We want peace. We want negotiation: Israel-Palestine. Israel-Syria. Stop with conditions. Stop with blame. Sit down and talk. Now.
President Bush: support negotiation. Support peace. End the dithering. End the "No."

if he made a backup of the site it is really nothing.

I highly recommend that everyone here read this. He blocked access from this site so you need to google it.
"It took a while, but I discovered a Kahanist site, Jewish Task Force, which has posted about Masada2000's closing and my involvement in it. The discussion indicates that Masada2000 either was a Kahanist site or one managed by Kahanist sympathizers.
The JTF forum comments are truly revealing."
