Please daven for Reuven ben Devorah, my stepfather. He's been in the hospital for a few months, and thanks to Canadian medicine they ruled out a brain tumor only to diagnose him with a malignant one today. He's been in Western Canada so I am flying out there to be with him early next week. I have some legal questions, if anybody on this forum is a lawyer, please send me a private message. Thank you.

I will pray for your stepfather as I pray for my cousin. I'm not a lawyer, but I have a great deal of experience with the health care system in Canada. I think I know why you're asking. I'd be happy to help you.

My prayers are for Hashem to heal the pain of all those who are in need of healing. I myself am dealing with my stepdads cancer, my dads kidney failure and requires dialisis, my uncles prostate cancer and aunts heart surgery. And I myself am struggling with an odd condition which is very painful and untreatable.

Hashem is the source of all blessing. Through the good and the bad, Hashem will provide us what we need. The healing will come, in this world and in the next.

My prayers are with your step father. If you are in Western Canada perhaps look into University of Washington medical center over the border. I know they have some very good treatment programs.

He cab't fly, and we can't afford medical bills in the states. Thanks for the idea.

Honestly I'm still in shock. Somebody my family has known since my mom was little just died yesterday - - - from the same thing I found out my stepdad has which was also yesterday. Not to mention one of my Rabbis from Yeshivah died after a brain tumor last May and a childhood friend's dad died a few weeks ago from the same thing. It's too hard to swallow, and I'm depressed, angry, and worried as hell.

My stepbrother told me that it's a cancerous tumor where the brain connects to the spine and it's inoperable. They are doing a biopsy monday, and I should be there Monday afternoon. They said there's a slight chance he might not survive, but they need to do the biopsy because otherwise they won't know if it's treatable or not. I'm so scared.

It's absolutely DISGUSTING that in this country they can find TRILLIONS of dollars for banks and car companies, but when people are literally dying, there's not a penny to be found, and a person has to go begging on the street for medical care (so to speak).

We live in Canada, but socialized medicine ain't the greatest apparently.

Yeah, I heard that about Canada. I guess socialized medicine isn't exactly the answer either. Well, my prayers go out to your stepfather and your whole family. There's no question that it's better to be rich when you're ill.

I meant that, if you're rich, you can get a lot better care than if you're poor or just average.
