Crimean Karaites: Did they participate in the holocaust?

<< < (2/2)

Zelhar:
I think Raulmario is correct about the Crimean Karaites being mostly Tatars who practice a mimicked form of karaism.

Other Karaites communities especially- from Egypt, and also I believe the Lithuanian, are ethnic Jews. In Israel they are recognized as Jews. Thank God their heretic sect is nearly extinct.

q_q_:
They are one of these groups that we didn't know still existed until the internet arrived!!

another are sabbateans.. - rarely we hear news of ones here or there..  they have been mentioned on the forum before.

and possibly the discovery of the lost tribes! (horrible bunch of muslim types, that make up the pashtans in afghanistan, they claim to be israelites and have names like reuveni, shimoni, e.t.c.  (these are the names of yaakov's 12 sons that make up the 12 tribes) makes sense that they preserved that, since arab culture is very tribal.. And they have some traditions that are clearly from judaism..

Raulmarrio2000:
Karaylar or Cromean Karaites had folk religious traditions, a mix of Judaism but also Christianity and Islam. Some of them believed in Muhammad (not Mulslim since they didn't even know the Koarn, just the name Muhmmad) and Jesus as prophets. However their official doctrine held by its leaders is Mosaic Law. Unlike other Karaites, who in spite of rejecting Talmud, believe that, to accept the whole Torah as an Israelite, you must be or become a Jew by some sort of conversion and join the People of Israel, Crimean Karaites claim that it's possible to accept the whole Mosaic Law as you religion and reject being Israelite. In their case they consider themselves not related to Israelites in anyway, but Turkish followers of the Torah.
The rest of Karaite Jews keep only the Tanach and consider themselves Israelites. They teach that a person needs to join the nation of Israel to validly perform the Mitzvot. A Gentile needs not to be a Jew or keep all the Torah, but just a basic moral code (Similar to the Noahide Code taught by Rabbis, but not the same). However, the understanding of a conversion varies among Karaites. Some of them claim that conversion is not possible. Others claim a ceremony must be performed. Others say that conversion is completed by getting circumcised with the intention of converting (even by a phycician) and anouncing the will to accept HaShem as one's G-d and Israel and one's own nation in front of a group of Israelites.
Regardless of their religious beliefs and hallachic condition, it's good to point out that most Karaite Jews are extremely pro-Israel and Zionism and hold an ideology similar to Kahanism.
