Israel believes Iran can build nuclear weapons
« on: March 08, 2009, 01:35:41 PM »
JERUSALEM – Iran is now capable of producing atomic weapons, Israel's top military intelligence officer said Sunday, sounding the highest-level warning that Israel's arch-enemy has achieved independent nuclear capability.

At a Cabinet meeting, the chief of military intelligence, Maj. Gen. Amos Yadlin, did not say Iran already has an atomic bomb, participants said. However, he said, Iran has "crossed the threshold" and has the expertise and materials needed for one.

The participants spoke on condition of anonymity because the Cabinet meeting was closed. They said Yadlin told them that Iran continues to accumulate uranium for enrichment and hopes to exploit the Obama administration's intention to open a dialogue as a cover for developing nuclear weapons.

Yadlin's comments follow a similar assessment by the U.S. military chief, Adm. Mike Mullen. He said a week ago that Iran has enough fissile material to build a bomb now.

Israeli officials have long identified a nuclear Iran as the most serious threat to the Jewish state. Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has repeatedly called for destruction of Israel, and Iran has tested long-range missiles that could strike Israel.

Israel's long-held policy is that the world must cooperate to defuse the Iranian nuclear threat. While not directly threatening to take out Iran's nuclear facilities, Israel has avoided taking the military option off the table.

Prime Minister-designate Benjamin Netanyahu, who is putting together the next Israeli government, for years has said that Iran represents an existential threat to the Jewish state. He is seen as more likely than other Israeli leaders to order an attack.

However, most experts believe that wiping out the Iranian nuclear program is beyond the ability of Israel's military. In 1982 the Israeli air force destroyed Iraq's nuclear reactor in a lightning strike, but Iran's facilities are scattered around the country, some of them underground.

Iran says its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.

Israel has been watching carefully how Washington develops its policy toward Iran. Unlike his predecessor, George W. Bush, President Barack Obama has called for diplomatic contacts with Iran as a way of persuading its rulers to drop their nuclear ambitions.

In talks last week with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Israeli officials raised concerns about Iran's intentions and questions about the Obama administration's approach.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he did not object in principle to the idea of U.S-Iran talks, but he warned that Iran could use the contacts to stall while it readies its nuclear arsenal. Olmert said that would be unacceptable.

Israeli strategic analyst Yossi Alpher said Yadlin's determination must be taken seriously. "It clearly renders the entire issue of how to deal with Iran both for the Obama administration and for Israel more urgent," he said. "It affects possible diplomatic initiatives, sanctions and the military option."

Last week an Iranian leader declared that Iran's missiles can strike all of Israel's nuclear facilities. The main Israeli reactor is in the southern Negev desert, and a smaller research reactor is closer to the center of the country.

Experts quoted in foreign publications believe Israel has several hundred nuclear weapons. Israel neither confirms nor denies reports about its nuclear capabilities.

In the midst of so many speculations, at least one thing is now certain than US is not going to become a party in any attack against Iran. Very unfortunate...

Action must be taken against Iran immediately, because they will stop at nothing to destroy Israel.

The longer action against Iran is postponed, more dangerous they will become.

Obama doesn't want to take part in wiping out Iran's nuclear abilities by force, so be it.
If he actually believes that sitting down with a cup of mint tea and having a dialogue with Iran about aborting their nuclear progression is going to accomplish anything, he is a complete fool.

The U.S.A. is being governed by an inept egotistical maniac whose actions will destroy the country.

In my opinion, Iran is the biggest threat to America, Israel, and the whole Western World. If those nuclear programs aren't destroyed, we gonna face dieaster on a huge scale.

It may be too late because America and Israel have waited so long to do anything.  Even if they do bomb them, they may not get all the sites.  America will most probably not bomb Iran.  Obama would endanger his base political support and he probably secretly has worked with the Iranians' associates.

For all the talk ,from all these people about having a "culture of fear" in America and Israel, I bet their real goal is to give Iranians the needed time to complete their bomb. Most of them have a secret hope that Iran does nuke Israel.  I'm sure many in the left feel that "Israel has it coming" due to their "human rights violations."  I'm sure they would say if NYC, LA or Tel Aviv were bombed that it was an understandable reaction to the humiliation the Muslims have been feeling.  We need to understaaaaaand their side too.  I just saw Rick Steves, that PBS travel guide, say after his visit to Iran, that we need understanding and the people really aren't that bad.  He said governments exploit our differences.  That's thrilling Steve but that won't stop the mullahs from achieving their possibly realistic goal of destroying Israel and the USA.

Do these fools think Barack coming out with "stern words" will stop Iran from fulfilling a Muslim prophecy?  Oh wait, millions of Israelis and Americans actually do believe this.  Iran knows how to play the diplomatic game and will probably offer some consession to the US Administration that will seem really good but won't be substantial or effect their building nuclear weapons.  The US media will say how amazing the Obama Administration was at dealing with this crisis and now it is all over.  They will say "all hail president Obama" for his accomplishments achieved through a just a few words form our dear leader.  The problem is that just as with the economic crisis, the reality will be different.  He will actually make the situation worse because the media will begin to ignore the situation and the Iranian cockroaches will come out when no one is shining a light on them.  This policy puts Israel and the USA in more danger than ever before!

100% correct.

Obama unfortunately won't do a thing until we're nuked here in the United States, and even then he won't have enough proof to do anything.  Everyone appears to be absolutely have lost their powers of reasoning by deluding themselves into thinking that Ahmadinejahd won't do anything with his nuclear bombs.  He's just chomping at the bit to a) wipe out Israel and b) have his proxies nuke Washington and New York City.

I cry inside for our future.

Appeasement of Iran and Taliban is on the cards and this is going to embolden them further.

Read Ezekiel 38 and 39, it is Persia that will be annihilated on the mountains of Israel.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
Zechariah 12:9-10

"Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.  "So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress.  "Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.  "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate."
Daniel 9:24-27

The big question is if Israel has the military capability to attack and destroy Iran's nuclear facilities. Iran is far away from Israel and its nuclear program is scattered accross the country. Unlike the Iraqis in 1981, the Iranians are well prepared for an Israeli or American strike. If Iran is attacked, it will use all its military capabilities and allies against Israel. The entire state of Israel will be bombed with grad, shihab and other missles and rockets which may be armed with chemical or biological warheads. In such stuation Israel will have no choice but to use nuclear weapons to wipe out Iran, Syria and any any other country that attacks Israel. The bigger question is if the filthy traitors who are running the state of Israel would do such a thing. The biggest qustion is: Does Israel really have any nuclear weapons?
