Hints of this possibility, whether from the Congress and/or from new Justice Department officials, has been all over the news in recent days. And for good reason, because this is a new step for America, right in line with despotic governments all over the world and throughout time: criminalizing the political decisions of the preceding government. Or you can look at it a second way: If you jail government officials for being mistaken and/or foolish, then you better build a lot of jails.
And now to the gist of my post, which I put out here for open discussion: Obama is transparently determined to expose the tactics used to-date in the 'War on Terror'. So, that means that he's either a Manchurian candidate, or (my opinion) just a naive boy who believes that groveling impresses the enemies of civilization.
But I have yet to hear nor read an obvious question about this thinking from Obama: The United States is publicly repudiating effective methods of interrogation, so what happens politically in this nation if the Muslims make a huge terrorist hit in the United States during Obama's administration? It seems obvious to me that we would be facing a stark Constitutional crisis, with the president accused (and rightly so) of dereliction of duty in his role as Commander-in-Chief.
Has anybody on this board seen this thinking noted among any of the Beltway Brainiacs?
