Dear Mr. Ben Pesach
As you probably know my country, Italy, is one of the most targeteted nation in Europe by illegal immigration; every year hundreds of boats loaded with African and muslim illegal immigrants are reaching our coasts.
They are mostly young people in their 20s-30s with absolutely no qualification in doing anything, which turns them in ticking-time bombs: many of them became drug dealers or pimps and commit any kind of crime...
Not only that, but Italy is their main "door" to the rest of Europe, many of them usually move as soon as they can to other European countries were they can live by getting welfare checks for being "poor" immigrants or refugees...
Well, few days ago our government, surprisingly (I'm still shocked), decided once and for all to crack down on illegal immigration from Africa by sendig our Marine an Coastguard in international waters to wait for these boats in order to "escort" them back to Libia (which is where they come)! We are forced, to wait for them in international waters, because our stupid laws say that if these boats reach italian waters and the people on board is begging for being help then we "have to" rescue them by escorting them to Italy.
So, in these past two weeks for the first time in our history, we are actually sending back immigrants to Libia without even letting them go near our coasts with their stinking boats.
Now this is a good news for us, and it should be the same for the other European countries, but instead Italy is recevieng condemnations from many nations and organizations such as the United Nations: they are all screaming to us "This is unacceptable, you have to welcome those poor people into your country no matter what!"...
Isn't "unacceptable" the fact that a foreign and useless organization like the UN is telling to us what to do with our borders and how to deal with illegals?
What's your opinion on all this?
Thanks in advance for your answer
