A teenagers mother questions the patriot act
« on: May 05, 2009, 10:20:36 PM »
Seems as though a North Carolina teen was captured arrested by Homeland Security because someone stole his I.P address and used it to make a bomb threat.  This establishes the need to make checks and balances or get rid of the Patriot act.

I read that last night. That is very bad, it reminds me of a case where a pedophile was cracking (hacking) people's computers and storing his trash on them and setting up trojans on them using them as servers to distribute it. A guy in GB got arrested after having his computer repaired - tech found pedo porn on it. The guy spent a couple of years in prison before someone figured out what was happening.
I heard Dick Morris a while back talking about how he feared the obama administration and liberals would abuse the PATRIOT Act. He said he trusted Bush with that kind of authority but that democrats were unscrupulous and he didn't trust them. He brought up examples like the IRS audits ==> endless litigation that bankrupted Clinton adversaries.

drlmg,
I saw the report about the pedophile who used other peoples ip addresses to store and share his porn images; and a young kid in AZ got arrested for this pedophile's porn and it took something like 3 years and his family's life savings to get rid of the charges ahainst him.
It was a terrible ordeal.
The PATRIOT ACT needs to be exercised with discretion and caution.
I don't believe Obama and his Administration will be doing so.

O.K., I just saw a news report that stated that this kid's mother was aware that he was making prank calls for some time and getting paid to do them through PayPal.
Apparently, he was on his web cam with a guy from Australia making arrangements to do one of these crazy phone pranks and the Australian guy told the authorities that this kid's Mother came into the room and she yelled at her son, "stop making any more bomb threats because our house is going to get raided!!!!"

So, obviously, there is more to this story than everyone is letting on.

Actually the charges were never cleared and still exist to this day.

Anyways, this concept that you guys are stating hackers are using other peoples computers to store pedophile porn and terrorist documents is not far fetched by any means, this is commonly called a DHT (Distributed Hash Table). You can read more about it here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_hash_table

This prevents a centralized source so that the original poster/server cannot be located but rather the IP's in the DHT.

I have to say when a person like Dick Morris makes a statement like that I tend to take it at face value. Dick Morris saw the evil inclination of the Democrats first hand. I think this is what makes  him out them at every opportunity.
