Teens: 10 Ways to Show Parents You Love Them

by Marcy Ellis Sheck, Oct 21, 2007
A few idea's on how to let your parents you love them and are thankful for all they have done in raising you.

There are many ways to show your parents you love them. These are just a few suggestions you may want to consider. It's not a bad thing to do all the time, either.

   1. Tell them you love them in a letter. This is something they can read over and over again; then tell them in person whenever you get the chance.
   2. Detail and wash their cars. Sometimes they don't get a chance to do it themselves or have it done.
   3. Mow the grass and trim the trees; without actually being told to do so
   4. Clean the garage and your room, again without being told
   5. Prepare a four or five course dinner in their honor. (Have a friend help you if need be.)
   6. Give them a really big hug for no reason
   7. Do well in school; make something of yourself
   8. Tell them the truth, no matter how bad it may be. Remember, they love you too.
   9. Send them a big beautiful house plant, without their being a reason, just to say you love them
  10. Spend some time with them. As you grow older, they are going to miss that the most. They love you very much and not spending some quality time with them is the worst thing you could do.(next to going to jail, that is)

How many more idea's can you come up with on your own? You know your parents better than anybody else. Say “I love you” in the many different ways you treat them.

Parents form of important part of our life and no one can deny the value that they hold for us. The poem 'A Parent's Heart' explores the role that our mom and dad play in our life. The poet Ann Tran shows that our parents are always there with us, in each and every contingency. They stand by us wherever we need their help, in whatsoever form. However, we seldom realize the immense importance of our parents in our life and even if we do, we fail to acknowledge the same. In the poem, Ann asks the reader to remain grateful towards their mom and dad, who have undertaken numerous selfless deeds in shaping and making their lives beautiful.

A Parent's Heart

When you feel like breaking down or crashing in,

Who do you turn to, to forgive your sin?

When you cried your lonely tears,

Who will be there to fight your fears?

And when it feels like no one would understand,

Who was there to hold your hand?

There are people, whom you can't replace,

They’re the ones who gave you your face.

They'll love you through thick and thin,

They show you the light from deep within.

And if by chance, you happen to die,

They’ll be the ones who will really cry.

You see, my friend, there's no one who can love you more,

Than your very own parents, that's for sure.

Always remember that this is true,

That wherever you go, your parents will be there for you!
