Mitt Romney
« on: July 05, 2009, 05:00:55 AM »
Why do some of you support him?

Huckabee probably hasn't yet thought about whether he'll run again but wouldn't you prefer him over Romney?

If you support some of Reagan's principles--not necessarily his policies because some of his policies were disappointing--then why would you be a big supporter of Romney?

When Romney ran for the US Senate, he could have promoted conservative principles to leftist voters.  But instead he tried to run to the left of Ted Kennedy on some issues.  He also stated that conservatives needed to forget about the principles that Reagan promoted.

A couple months ago, Romney went on a "listening tour" with Jeb Bush.  They both stated that people need to forget about the principles that Reagan promoted.  It doesn't bother any of you that Romney likes Jeb Bush?

Romney and Jeb should disagree with policies that Bush Jr. promoted. But they can't because Jeb Bush agreed with everything that Bush Jr. did.

Monica Crowley and her sister (who is married to Alan Colmes) disagree on most issues.  But in contrast, George W. Bush and Jeb Bush probably agree on all issues.

If Romney thinks Jeb is so great, then why would any of you trust Romney?

Huckabee would be a less electable candidate. He takes a number of positions which, although theologically sound, would prove ruinous. He also comes across as a bit of a yokel.

Romney, on the other hand, is a skilled chameleon of a politician, who says whatever people want to hear, and appears respectable and dignified.

Romney would be a good candidate regardless of what should happen in these next few years. Huckabee will only be competitive if Obama continues along his chosen path to perdition.

Stop allowing the media to influence your thinking.

Huckabee appeals to a broad audience with his show.  The media wanted people to think that he only knows how to talk about issues such as abortion or marriage.  But he's proven to people that he's able to speak well on other issues.

Romney shouldn't be trusted. Of course, Obama is worse.  But you should want someone better than Romney.

By the way, Biden had many "gaffes" during the campaign. The media just hardly reported about them.

Don't allow the media to tell you someone is "polarizing."  Just because the radical-left and the media don't like someone, that doesn't mean someone is polarizing.

Obama and his wife are very polarizing but you wouldn't know it based on the media's coverage of them.  Have you already forgotten about how she stated that she was only proud of her country for the first time because her husband was ahead (not by much though) in the Democrat primaries?  Some of her statements showed that she fit in Jeremiah Wright's church.

If you're still going to disagree, then you should ask Chaim.

I don't think we will ever see the likes of Ronald Reagan again.  The establishment mindset of the Republican party today will not allow it.  In today's culture we must accept the lesser of two evils.  Romney is not someone I am going to do back flips over, but I do believe that he has a chance to beat Obama in 2012.  If I thought Ron Paul had a chance to beat Obama, I would support him.

The media can harp on those issues because his stance is alienating. He's eloquent, affable and fluent with the issues, and all this made him a competitive candidate in the Republican primaries, where only Republicans voted. This too has made him a pundit. But it's not enough to win the presidency.

Yes, Obama was a polarizing candidate. Under no circumstances would he have been elected without Bush's extremely low approval ratings and the economic crisis. And for all Obama's polarizing qualities, he was successful in convincing millions of idiots, many of them habitual Republican voters, to elect him.

What a great many people forget is that early on Bush2 pushed for expansion of domestic drilling in Alaska and off shore drilling in U.S waters. He was also for expansion of Atomic power something that still has people shaking every time its bought up which I find comical. The biggest detractors back then were the Democrats. Now they come along with this carbon bill that will do nothing but cause shortages and drive the cost of living through the roof. Why...... to get their hands on more and more tax dollars and have the ability to stick their nose into every aspect of the American peoples life. In order to get away from oil we need the replacement for it unless we plan to go around on horse back and plan to go to bed each night at sundown. Candles produce soot and horses have gas and G-d forbid any more of that gets into the air unless its a third world country that's pumping it out.....The thing is with this administration they are not going to rest until they have the American people by the feet and shake every last cent out of their pockets. Give me Bush or Romney any day with a conservative congress and watch how fast things change for the better. Oil is going to be around until someone comes along with something better or cheaper it can't be regulated out of use unless its a global effort. America is not the only game in town and the Arabs will always find people to buy it up even at a reduced amount. Even a fraction of the money they are now getting would still be enough to see them through nicely.
