Solution to the unemployment problem: Lower minimum wage
« on: December 07, 2009, 05:56:17 AM »
Several years ago I was in favor of minimum wage. I thought that people who put in the work shouldn't be punished for their lack of ability to negotiate a better salary. I still do, but if we have a minimum wage, it should be the same as all the countries that we compete with.
The counter argument to minimum wage was that employers would let go of employees if this happened. Even managers are let go when there are less employees to manage.
Well now it looks like we have high unemployment, so instead of more stimulus money, a lower minimum wage would make sense. If they want to give more money to the workers, they can get rid of social security withholdings.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

I have a solution for debt too- sell the debtor for slavery, and if that doesn't cover it, sell his family too.
