For those who may not remember the bad-ol' days of the USSR, it was quite common for the Soviets to put their dissidents in mental institutions, a supposedly softer approach as opposed to their famed gulags.  Some totalitarian methods never change.

I believe in global warming. Or global cooling, depending on the epoch. The cyclical fluctuations of average global temperature is not the issue. The issue is whether the actions of human beings have a significant effect on those fluctuations.
