Have you served in Iraq or Afghanistan?
If you become Jewish will you move to Israel?
Have you ever been to Israel?
Whats it like learning Hebrew?
How did you hear about JTF?
I have never served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Yes, I hope to move to Israel when I become Jewish.
I have never been to Israel. I was on a Navy ship once that pulled into port at Aqaba, Jordan. This is right next to Eilat, Israel. I was able to see over into Israel but I did not get to go there.
Learning Hebrew was a lot of fun for me because I love foreign languages. I also learned Spanish in high school and Hebrew is much harder than Spanish. However, Hebrew is much easier to master than Arabic, Chinese, or Korean for an English speaker (from what I hear). Hebrew grammar is very logical. My biggest challenges currently with Hebrew are reading quickly (because the letters are so different) and listening to fast-spoken news commentary.
I found out about JTF from a link on the Masada2000.org website, which is a site I used to go to often to learn more about the Middle East conflict (a.k.a. the Muslim war against the Jews), because prior to that I believed in Judaism but was not political about it and I didn't know anything about the situation. From Masada2000.org I visited the JTF website a few times and got kind of addicted to the Ask JTF broadcasts on the site and listened to them on and off for a period. These JTF shows revealed to me all the things I had known deep down to be true but never had the arguments for. After that I found the YouTube videos with Chaim and sometimes David Ben Moshe and would routinely watch them. In the videos, Chaim was always encouraging people to join the forum as you know, and one time he said something that challenged me--he said to join because "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." So that's when I actually joined the forum.
