Kevin Jennings, President Obama's "safe schools czar," is president of the board of the Tectonic Theater Project, which created "The Laramie Project," a play about the 1998 murder of University of Wyoming homosexual Matthew Shepard that condemns traditional biblical views on homosexuality as hateful and bigoted.

The play, performed by dozens of colleges and high schools around the nation, ridicules a Baptist minister for preaching the biblical perspective on homosexuality as a sin. The pastor's expression of hope that Shepard repented of his sins before dying is described as hateful.

A Mormon leader who notes that "God has set boundaries" also is portrayed as a bigot.

Jennings position as board president of the Tectonic Project is listed in his biography posted on his U.S. Department of Education page.

Concerns about the play were raised by investigators at Mass Resistance, a Massachusetts non-profit that battles the advance of homosexual promotions in public schools and government programs. The play features the 21-year-old man who, according to a 2004 ABC News "20/20" report, actually was killed by drug-using thugs intent on robbery – a fact ignored by the production.

In May, WND broke the news of Jennings' federal appointment to oversee "safety" in the nation's public schools after he had boasted of using the theme to promote homosexuality and other alternative sexual lifestyles to students.

Find out how corruption is "packaged, perfumed and marketed"  to us as good and wholesome. The culture-war classic "The Marketing of Evil"   is now available as a 4-disc AUDIOBOOK – read by the author, David Kupelian!

Multiple WND messages left with the U.S. Department of Education and Jennings' office have not been returned.

WND has reported Jennings founding of the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network, his influence over a conference for teachers and children that included instruction in various homosexual acts such as "fisting," multiple efforts at the congressional level to have him removed, his responsiveness when a porn publisher asked for his help in writing a book, his financial sponsorship of radical homosexual art and his membership in the sometimes-violent radical Act Up homosexual organization.

The sexually graphic books the Jennings-founded GLSEN recommends for children also has been the subject of reports.

Mass Resistance called "The Laramie Project" an "insidious GLBT propaganda play … which exploits the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard as a 'hate crime' and leads kids directly to groups promoting GLBT causes."

The group said Tectonic, which produces other plays focusing on transgenderism, uses "Laramie" to stir up support for homosexuality.

It said the comments from school officials when "Laramie" became an issue in the Acton, Mass., public schools in 2007 are typical of what the play seeks to promote.

There, the drama director stated, "The play is a powerful contemporary drama about hate – what it can do to a student, a family, a town and a nation. It details how a community dealt with a tragedy and asks the hard questions 'are the seeds of hate here, could this happen here?' The answer is yes, it could happen here. This play is meant to help people think about their attitudes, not only toward gays, but also to any group that experiences prejudice. There is prejudice here [in this high school]."

Similarly, the principal in Acton stated, "I understand that there may be differences regarding 'The Laramie Project'; however, the administration at all levels supports the performance of the play at Acton-Boxborough this fall. We believe that the play encourages us to consider how the seeds of intolerance in a community can lead to violence. We support the safety and rights of all staff and students at Acton-Boxborough, including our GLBT members, and we expect the Acton-Boxborough community to do the same. Such support is essential to ensure a safe teaching and learning environment for all."

"This implies that there are community members not likely to support the safety and rights of everyone, and the principal lectures the critical members of the community that they're not behaving properly by complaining," Mass Resistance noted. "Are complaints about the play 'intolerance' or 'seeds of intolerance?'"

Mass Resistance also noted the graphic language of the play for high schoolers to recite, including: "Don't f--k with a Wyoming queer," "they better watch their f--kin a--," "and "you'd you f--k up like that."

"These are direct quotes from 'The Laramie Project,'" said the Mass Resistance report. "The play's director says it has literary merit 'worth six months of production time.' Certainly, it will teach students it's OK to talk like this."

The report said Tectonic also has produced "Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde," which focuses on sodomy, and "I Am My Own Wife," about a transvestite.

The "Laramie" play also takes part in fear-mongering, Mass Resistance says, when a primary author states, "The company has agreed that we should go to Laramie for a week and interview people. Am a bit afraid about taking ten people in a trip of this nature. Must make some safety rules. No one works alone. Everyone carries cell phones."

The two men accused in Shepard's death already were in custody, so the "insinuation is that other Laramie citizens are dangerous," Mass Resistance said.

The play also suggests the community as a whole is responsible for the crime of two men, with one character stating, "We need to own this crime. I feel. Everyone needs to own it. We are like this. …"

Previously uncovered reports also revealed the Jennings-founded GLSEN recommends books to children that include "explicit descriptions of sex acts between preschoolers; stories that seemed to promote and recommend child-adult sexual relationships; stories of public masturbation, anal sex in restrooms, affairs between students and teachers, five-year-olds playing sex games, semen flying through the air."

Mass Resistance has launched a petition to have Jennings removed, as has GrassrootsNation.

At the Washington Times, a series of editorials addressed worries over Jennings' influence on children.

"Teaching children sexual techniques is simply not appropriate. Unfortunately, it is part of a consistent pattern by some homosexual activists to promote underage homosexuality while pretending that their mission is simply to promote tolerance for so-called alternative lifestyles," the newspaper said.

"It is outrageous that someone involved in this scandal is being paid by the taxpayers to serve in a high-powered position at the Education Department, of all places. At some point, [Education Secretary Arne] Duncan, Mr. Jennings, Obama administration spokesmen and the president himself are going to have to start answering questions about all this. Refusing to do so won't make the issue go away."
