http://action.afa.net/Blogs/BlogPost.aspx?id=2147491061If you want to get out from under the onerous burdens of MussoliniCare, there is one simple way to do it: convert to the Amish faith.
A "religious conscience" exemption has been added to both the House and Senate versions, allowing people with religious objections to health insurance to opt out of the government imposed mandate that everybody has to by insurance or go to jail.
The Amish, you'll be interested to know, have been exempt from both Social Security and Medicate taxes since the 1960s.
According to the Watertown Daily Times, the Amish "generally rely upon a community ethic that disdains government assistance. Families rely upon one another, and communities pitch in to help neighbors pay health care expenses."
In other words, when it comes to health care, the Amish are the truest Americans in the land.
The proposed legislation, however, does not mention the Amish by name, opening the door to other groups such as the Mennonites and Christian Scientists to opt out.
Including the religious exemption, according to a spokesman for Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., was a "no brainer."
Corollary: if including a religious exemption from MussoliniCare for the Amish is a "no brainer," then guess what converting to the Amish faith is?
