What oil shortage? World is swimming in it

Within the next few years, Iraq is positioned to rival Saudi Arabia by bringing its oil production to 11 million barrels a day, once again proving that "peak-oil" hysteria is just another hoax, Jerome Corsi's Red Alert reports.

Scientists for the U.S. Geological Survey have also suggested Venezuela's oil reserves may double the reserves in Saudi Arabia.

"Both announcements cast further doubt on the peak-oil theory, the idea that world consumption is exhausting the earth's available supply of oil," Corsi wrote.

Iraq

Occidental Petroleum along with two international partners – one from Italy and the other from Korea – signed a technical agreement last week to develop the massive 4 billion-barrel Zubair oil field in Iraq, near Basra.

With an anticipated investment of $20 billion over the next 20 years, Occidental and its partners plan to ramp up the Zubair field's production to 1.2 million barrels a day within six years, up from the current production of about 200,000 barrels a day.

The Zubair oil field is only one of several giant oil fields in Iraq that Iraq is planning to develop in the next few years.

The Los Angeles Times reported that a consortium involving Russia's OAO Lukoil and Norway's Statoil has been signed to develop the huge West Qurna Phase 2 oil field that holds an estimated 12.9 billion barrels of oil.

The Iraqi government is also on the verge of signing yet a third contract, this one to develop the Halfaya field, with its estimated 4 billion barrels in reserves.

Sitting on the world's third-largest proven oil reserves, Iraq currently produces only 2.5 million barrels per day, with about 1.9 million barrels a day exported.

Crude oil sales account for approximately 90 percent of the Iraq government's budget.

Venezuela

Scientists working for the U.S. Geological Survey have announced new estimate that Venezuela's Orinoco belt region may hold twice as much oil as previously thought, BBC News reported.

U.S. Geological Survey geologists now estimate the area could yield more than 500 billion barrels of "technically recoverable" oil.

Venezuela holds the largest oil reserves outside the Middle East, previously estimated at proven reserves of 260 billion barrels, Corsi noted.

"Knowing the potential for extractable resources from this tremendous oil accumulation, and others like it, is critical to our understanding of the global petroleum potential and informing policy and decision makers," said USGS Energy Resources Program Coordinator Brenda Pierce. "Accumulations like this one were previously very difficult to produce, but advances in technology and new understandings in geology allow us to assess how much is now technically recoverable."

USGS scientist Christopher Schenk explained, "Heavy oil is the type of oil that is very thick and therefore does not flow very easily. As a result, specialized production and refining processes are needed to generate petroleum products, but it is still oil and can generate many of the same products as other types of oil."

Peak-oil hoax continues

Still, the International Energy Agency claims non-OPEC oil production, accounting for approximately 60 percent of total world oil production, will peak in 2010, with global peak oil arriving by 2030.

"Even today, it takes wildcat drillers like Texas billionaire William "Tex" Moncrief to prove the peak-oil theorists wrong," Corsi wrote.

Now that Mexico has found the Tiber field, yet another 3 billion-barrel oil field in the Gulf of Mexico, Moncrief is betting that the secret is drilling deeper than conventional "fossil-fuel" petro-geologists typically drill.

The USGS estimates that worldwide consumption of oil was 85.4 million barrels in 2008.

The three largest consuming countries were the U.S. with 19.5 million barrels per day, China with 7.9 million barrels per day and Japan with 4.8 million barrels per day.

Red Alert's author, whose books "The Obama Nation" and "Unfit for Command" have topped the New York Times best-sellers list, received his Ph.D. from Harvard University in political science in 1972. For nearly 25 years, beginning in 1981, he worked with banks throughout the U.S. and around the world to develop financial services marketing companies to assist banks in establishing broker/dealers and insurance subsidiaries to provide financial planning products and services to their retail customers. In this career, Corsi developed three different third-party financial services marketing firms that reached gross sales levels of $1 billion in annuities and equal volume in mutual funds. In 1999, he began developing Internet-based financial marketing firms, also adapted to work in conjunction with banks.

In his 25-year financial services career, Corsi has been a noted financial services speaker and writer, publishing three books and numerous articles in professional financial services journals and magazines.

Oil shortage theory is being propagated to keep the rates higher.
 ;D

However I wish somehow that the arabs get rid completely of their oil reserves.

They need to build more refineries, that is THE problem with all of this.  >:( If we had more refineries, the price would drop dramatically.

There's even oil in Haiti!
http://www.margueritelaurent.com/pressclips/oil_sites.html#shopping_in_Haiti

Oil is the "blood" of this Earth, and in accordance with the Torah and the abiogenic theory for it's origin, oil is essentially limitless & self-replenishing if you dig deep enough!

Oil is from ancient plants in the Carboniferous. It's not an unlimited resource, and it's not the "blood" of the earth. It's true there is probably a lot more oil out there than people think, but that could be a problem because as Chaim says it's best if we get off of oil as a commodity completely.

Off oil completely, oh wouldn't that be great! All the Arab economies down the toilet but imagine being the person who invented the internal combustion engine that ran on water. What would the price be on your head?

Getting off oil only works if we find an alternative that is economically competitive.  The oil in Saudi Arabia is dirt cheap to produce and it is just not realistic to think we will find something competitive with it in the foreseeable future.  Our best hope is an all of the above approach, nuclear, natural gas, wind, solar, geothermal, etc plus conservation that keep the oil price as low as possible and limit the price and the riches that the Saudis, Iranians, etc take in.
We all need to pray for Barack Obama, may the Lord provide him a safe move back to Chicago in January 2,013.

We have more than enough oil if we extract it.   But that would take an act of god by our incompetent politicians.

"Essentially limitless" means that Hashem would not create a world without enough oil to last us for the duration of mankind's existence on it - only another 230 years! As history has shown, just as "the savants" thought that a resource was about to to run out, another massive reserve is suddenly discovered, whether gold, mercury, tungsten, cadmium, platinum, gas, fertiliser, food...or oil! פותח את ידך ומשביע לכל חי רצון

So what does the Torah year 5770 on the cover of the Kahane magazine mean to you?

Scientists have shown that fossilisation occurred at the time of the Flood within months, not millions of years. Fossilisation does not occur today, and the formation of perfectly preserved fossils can only be explained by diluvilal action and their sudden preservation under sediment, before they decomposed or were eaten ie the Mabul!

The creationist abiogenic (non organic) theory for the origin of oil http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/arj/v1/n1/origin-of-oil is much more plausible than the idea that untold trillions of barrels of it were formed from rotting trees, fish & dinosaurs over 2 billion years!

A very very small fringe of scientists believe in the non organic theory of oil.  Its a theory, but its a theory that makes no sense and doesnt explain anything, including all the markers and deposits that are found in crude oil.  It also does not explain how and where the temperatures and pressures sufficient to convert kerogen to graphite would occur.  Yes its a possibility, but it has as much proof as another theory ive heard, that an alien spaceship delivered it from their oil word, and injected in our planet. (Not joking)

Young earth creationism is retarded and that article proves it even more. How should I even respond to such outright drivel? I don't see the point, really. If you have a strongly emotional reason for believing something, especially if it's based on your religious worldview, how in the world could I convince you otherwise? Evidence will mean nothing to you unless you're willing to change your opinion with a certain level of evidence.

Also not sure if you should be posting a fossil of a shrimp on here.

The succesful abiotic petrologists of the USSR/Russia/Ukraine are hardly "fringe scientists"!

Rather than call it "fringe science", call it 'minority' and 'majority' opinions in science, with the former often turning out to be correct!

Saying that the idea of a young Earth (ie recently created) is "retarded" is akin to a canard against the Torah and Jewish chronology.

I want us to get a new energy source to bankrupt the damned arabs. If it is cleaner than oil, that's a bonus.

Israel would not have to be digging thousands of feet searching for oil if that uberdumpf Menachem Begin had not handed the Sinai Peninsular over to Egypt in 1982, which apart from containing Har Sinai, was a huge strategic buffer, located three massive air bases with vast training airspace, had huge tourist potential, and of course the Abu Rudeis oil field.

Oohh how Rav Kahane coveted that oil field, because he knew that it would be Israel's financial salvation in gaining independence from American aid!

Abu Rudeis would today be supplying all of Israel's need, which even without, Israel's economy still compares favorably to much of Europe, but with, would have enabled her to attain a standard of living higher than that of Switzerland!

Exactly!! What did Israel get for that concession anyway? At the very least Israel  should have told Egypt.... See us about this when the oil dries up!

Just for the totally un-Jewish economic stupidity of giving up Abu Rudeis to the wily Sadat alone, Menachem Begin will never get out of his Gehennom!

Economic stupidity is the biggest aveiroh, because it is the same as  throwing money (ie the direct Divine kav of parnossoh) that your father (ie Hashem) has given you, back in his face!
