http://www.stylelist.com/2010/03/02/naomi-campbell-allegedly-hit-her-driver-and-fled-the-scene/From the sounds of it, Naomi Campbell may still need lessons in keeping her hands -- and her aggression -- to herself.
The NYPD is searching for Campbell, who is accused of hitting the male driver who was hired for the day to drive the supermodel from Manhattan to Astoria Studios in Queens, New York, according to The New York Times.
The two were driving through midtown Manhattan today -- at the intersection of 58th Street and Second Avenue -- when Campbell allegedly hit the driver. After he pulled the car over, Campbell reportedly fled the scene and cops are still looking for her.
The NYPD told The Times that the driver approached a male traffic agent who called the police. The driver was then taken to a local station for questioning and to treat a small bruise underneath his eye, which he says he got when he smacked into the steering wheel after he was hit.
"There shouldn't be a rush to judgment," a spokesman for Campbell told the paper. "Naomi will cooperate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye."
This isn't the first time that Campbell, 39, has been accused of assaulting those hired to serve her various needs.
Over the last three years, the supermodel -- who recently made headlines for hosting two Fashion For Relief Haiti benefit runway shows -- plead guilty to two assault charges.
In 2007, the Times reports she plead guilty in a New York court to hitting her housekeeper in the head with her cell phone in 2006. Campbell served five days of community service and took anger management classes as punishment.
Then, in 2008, the Times says she was sentenced to 200 hours of community service -- which she turned into a fashion show, one day showing up in a sequined Dolce & Gabbana gown, among other designer garb -- and was asked to pay a $4,500 fine after pleading guilty to assaulting two police officers at Heathrow Airport in the U.K. after one of her bags was lost.
According to the Huffinton Post, in 2000 Campbell also plead guilty in Toronto for beating her assistant with a phone and there was also another maid who accused Campbell of similar abuse in 2006 and they settled the issue in 2009.
The U.K. Register reports that another assistant came forward with tales of being hit with a BlackBerry in 2005.
No word on whether a mobile device was allegedly involved in the most recent incident.
