Hello all in this forum, I have a serious question to ask.

My father, Who was born in texas, was put down as a Negro, but his family heritage proves otherwise.

His ancestors were Syrian Christians on his mothers side and North African Christians from Egypt on his fathers side. Both of his parents were vert light skinned. My fathers family bought here as slaves in the 1840's. I can believe it because Moslems were in the slave trade, more so than Whites. Now, if they are North African and Syrian, arent they White? My fathers family always were light skinned, married light skinned people, so on and so forth. I believe there is some Negro blood because it has benn many years since the 1840s. I wish I had more about my family history. What do people think. Yakov your thoughts are always welcome, since you like Racial theories. Everybody eles is welcome to answer.

No, but about the slave trade, it was done mostly by Muslim Berbers, and continues to be done. The Arab slave trade has ended after brutal revolt occured in Kuwait of mixture of White and Blacks but they were annilahted by the Arabs however that stoped the Arab slave trade. The Berbers on other hand continue to enslave Blacks, Murantina is an example, that still goes on, the Berber slave trade did no end continues today.  Your dad probably has White blood, Native American, but mostly African thus he appears Negroid, so in essence no. White Americans are also triracial for example Heather Locklear, and Tom Hanks, their not racialy Caucasiod although they appear it.

A very interesting question, Cosmo, and one which I'm sure is of particular interest to you.

While I agree that your race shouldn't mean anything here, your desire to trace back your roots is a perfectly natural one.

As we all know, it wasn't just blacks who were traded as slaves in the New World. There were even white ones. So the chance that your father descended from North African whites is very good indeed.

Apart from following the paper trail, you might consider a DNA test. I found several DNA ancestry testing laboratories simply by searching Google. Here's one which looks good, although I can't vouch personally for it:

The test costs $199, can be conducted through the mail, and will supposedly tell you in detail what "tribes," as the laboratory calls ethnic categories, you're descended from.

Cosmokramer, It would be great for you to trace you family history back. Its always fun and interesting to see how far back people  can trace something like that. In a case like yours with the Syrian and North African ancestors it would be interesting to see what you would come up with. White or Black ancestors Cosmokramer makes little difference in my opinion of you because you seem to be a very upstanding person.

You probably have some Negro blood because you only trace part of your family. How do you know the people they married once they got here were also Christian Arabs?

But that explains why you have green eyes. Your mother is pure Caucasian and your father had Caucasian blood. Before I thought that it was because green is a mixture of blue from your mother and brown from your father.

A certain side of your family may not have been black but if one of your great great grandparents married a mixed race woman who may have been light skinned, then you never know.

I consider there to be a difference between a brown and a black in terms of race. I have a friend who comes from eygpt and shes quite dark but with white features.

Egyptians are dark Caucasians called Sahairds the same race as the Berbers. Dark skin does not mean race-mixed, its an adaption to the climate, i already have won the argument with a Eurocentric individual who clamied that Mizrachi Jews to be race mixed, lol, and i proved to him all Arabs have minimal foregin influence, just like Europeans.

Yes alot of Algerians,Egyptians,and Libyans have European blood, because of rape from the soliders. Today around 14% of Algerians have French DNA, as reslut of French men raping Algerian women, around 7% of the Libyans have Italian blood.
