Elijah Friedeman, the Millennial Perspective

The Democrats are the party of the immigrant, right? Well, uh, not so much. At least according to Rasmussen which asked voters where they stood on a "welcoming immigration policy".

Support for a welcoming immigration policy is a bit higher among Republicans than it is among Democrats or voters not affiliated with either of the parties. Just 19% of GOP voters oppose a generally welcoming immigration policy. Opposition is at 28% among Democrats and 31% among unaffiliateds.

Republicans are more welcoming to immigrants than Democrats or independents. So next time a Democratic pundit tries to accuse the GOP of being anti-immigration just point out the fact that Republican are, in fact, more welcoming to immigrants than Democrats themselves.

Unfortunately Michael Steele has decided to ignore this fact in his attempt to mirror Barack Obama by apologizing for others' perceived wrongs. Here the so-called leader of the RNC says that the GOP "has not been the most welcoming" to immigrants.

Thanks, Michael, that's just what we need; play into the liberal stereotype.
