The president has done two things relentlessly: blame President Bush for everything, and urge us to engage in civil discourse. He intoned on Saturday at the University of Michigan that coarse discourse can simply incite fringe elements to violence and is therefore inexcusable.

The president has been warning us ad nauseum that inflamed rhetoric and constant attacks are only stirring up people to anger. It's a terrible thing, our moralistic president warns us, and if it doesn't stop, somebody is going to get hurt, and the rhetoricians, he claims, will be the ones at fault for carelessly lighting fires with their incendiary words.

Okay then. Faisal Shahzad tried to blow up little children watching "The Lion King" in a Times Square theater last Saturday because of his anger at President Bush. Well, who has spent the last 16 months blaming Mr. Bush for every conceivable problem in the modern world? Who has been nurturing unceasing animosity toward the former president, and fingering him for everything from the meltdown of the economy to Muslim hatred of the U.S.?

Based on his own template, it's easy for us to finger the guilty party for Saturday's terrorist attempt. Why, it is President Obama himself.

Not only that, the would-be homicide bomber made it clear that not only does he hate Bush (at Obama's insistence, of course), but he was retaliating for the drone attacks in his native Pakistan.

The  president wants us to ask the question, "Why do they hate us?" Not content with the obvious answer - their god, their prophet and  their holy book all command them to - he says we must look in the mirror and accept the reality that America is to blame. We are the reason they hate us. It's America's fault. They hate us because of Gitmo, which the president reminds us is the chief recruiting tool for Islamic fundamentalists around the world.

Okay then. Faisal Shahzad has told us why he hates America. It's because our president is using drones to blow up Pakistanis in heir own homes, sending them, their multiple wives and their children to paradise and their 72 virgins.

So according to President Obama's own template, the answer to the question, "Why do they hate us?" is easy. They hate us because of you, Mr. President. You're the one ordering these drone attacks and radically increasing their frequency since you took office.

The drone attacks have now surpassed Gitmo as the chief recruiting tool for terrorists. You, Mr. Obama, recruited Shahzad yourself by bombing the homes of his countrymen.

So case solved. Shahzad tried to bomb Times Square first because of his hatred for George Bush, a hatred constantly inflamed by the loose bloviating of Barack Obama. And, secondly, he tried to bomb Times Square in retaliation for drone attacks on his countrymen ordered by Barack Obama. So we've got a tidy little package here. It's all Barack Hussein Obama's fault. Obama  himself says so without even realizing it.

This drone strategy, of course, is strikingly and morally inconsistent on the part of the president. He insists that terrorist detainees - who as non-citizens and enemy combatants have no constitutional rights whatsoever - must be given every legal right belonging to an American citizen who gets a speeding ticket. That is, of course, if they escape the constant missile attacks on their homes long enough to need a lawyer. So the president's position on civil rights appears to be this: you have no rights of any kind except the right to get blown to kingdom come in your own home, unless you're lucky enough to survive and get captured, in which case we'll find you the best lawyer taxpayers can buy, you won't have to say a word, and we won't even touch you. We will provide you with gourmet halal meals, handle your Korans with white gloves, and let you play soccer in a tropical breeze. We won't even pour water over your face lest you scream "Torture!" at us.

So, Mr. President, listen to yourself and blame yourself. Based on your worldview, beliefs and actions, you are responsible for Faisal Shahzad.
