'Muslim Mafia' case: Hamas spinoff 'fishing' to hook Farah

Despite repeated defeats in court, the Council on American-Islamic Relations continues its desperate attempt to thwart WorldNetDaily's exposure of its radical aims, this time with a deposition "fishing" for information on WND founder and CEO Joseph Farah.

In a "clear attack on the First Amendment," CAIR wants to know all about how the devastating, best-selling expose "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America" was published, financed and put together, says Daniel Horowitz, one of three high-profile lawyers representing WND and "Muslim Mafia" co-author P. David Gaubatz in CAIR's lawsuit.

"CAIR went fishing to catch WorldNetDaily, and they walked away with nothing," said Horowitz of the D.C.-based Islamic group's deposition last week of the Center for Security Policy.

The center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan national-security organization in the nation's capital that monitors CAIR's activities as a foreign agent of the Muslim Brotherhood, the parent of al-Qaida, Hamas and most of the other major international terrorist groups.

"CAIR has unlimited money to try to shut down WND, but everything WND has done has been completely normal and ethical as a publisher," Horowitz said.

But he warns WND must be vigilant.

"Even if we succeed in stopping CAIR, the financial cost is overwhelming and damaging," he said. "CAIR has unlimited money from its foreign supporters."

While CAIR repeatedly has denied it receives foreign support, the covert operation that produced "Muslim Mafia" obtained video footage that captured CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper boasting of his ability to bring in a half million dollars of "overseas money," including from Saudi Arabia.

"WND has only normal, working Americans as supporters, who have genuine economic struggles during these tough times," Horowitz says.

You can be part of this vital effort to resist a serious assault on America's freedom and security with your generous donation to the WND Legal Defense Fund.

To underscore the importance of your help, WND is making a special offer. For your gift of $25 or more, you will receive a free copy of the book at the center of the case, "Muslim Mafia."

At the moment, federal Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly in Washington is considering a motion by CAIR to amend its original, unsuccessful complaint. CAIR continues to keep its lawsuit alive, despite WND attorneys' exposure of the remarkable fact that CAIR doesn't even legally exist and was therefore unqualified to file the lawsuit.

Horowitz believes CAIR's failure to state any damages suffered from the book – other than those protected by the First Amendment – provides the judge with the basis for dismissing the case.

Regardless of how she rules, the delay in her decision is a "clear refusal to ban speech" immediately, as CAIR desires, Horowitz says.

Your contribution is particularly important now as media, including Fox News and CNN, continue to call on CAIR officials for TV appearances and ignore the fact that more than a dozen CAIR officials and members have been indicted or convicted of terrorism-related charges and that the group has been named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism-financing case in U.S. history.

Farah said: "When you see news publishers and book publishers being targeted in courtrooms in America, you know you are dealing with an attack on the First Amendment. WND is not Fox News or CNN. It is a small private corporation that takes risks to do what no other book publisher and no other news agency does. We trust Americans will recognize that we are in the fight of our lives defending not ourselves but freedom of the press and freedom of speech."
