Elijah Friedeman, the Millennial Perspective

It appears the growing bipartisan consensus - the president excluded - is that the developers of the Ground Zero mosque have the right to build the mosque, but they shouldn't, which is a position I've maintained all along. It's not often that Sarah Palin and Harry Reid agree on something, but you can chalk the Ground Zero mosque up as one of those issues.

This, from Harry Reid's office.

The First Amendment protects freedom of religion," spokesman Jim Manley said in a statement. "Sen. Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built some place else. If the Republicans are being sincere, they would help us pass this long overdue bill to help the first responders whose health and livelihoods have been devastated because of their bravery on 911, rather than continuing to block this much-needed legislation.

Of course, Reid's spokesman goes on to use the Ground Zero mosque to make another political attack on Republicans. But hey, the brief moment of unity was nice. And it's not like Republicans haven't been using this issue as a political talking point anyway.
