Woman sexually assaulted at Phoenix restaurant

A man sexually assaulted a woman after following her into the restroom at a south Phoenix restaurant early Saturday morning, police say.

The victim, a 20- to 25-year-old woman accompanied by friends, was attacked at the restaurant near Ray Road and I-10 about 2 a.m., police said.


The assailant, a 20- to 30-year-old Black male, fled the scene, authorities said.

"Once in the bathroom, the listed suspect entered and overpowered the victim and sexually assaulted her," a police statement said."The suspect fled the restaurant and the victim was able to obtain help from her friends."

Anyone with information relating to the incident should call 480-948-6377, a police spakesman said.

I wonder if since they're describing this as a "sexual assault" that maybe he wasn't able to actually rape her, but he attempted to.

I'm surprised they reported his race too!
