Poor Paul the Octopus

http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/index?id=5729778

"After rising to global prominence during the World Cup in South Africa in June and July, Paul retired from the predictions business after the final between Spain and the Netherlands -- the result of which he also forecast correctly -- and returned to his prime role of making children happy."

And now his career is over, forever.

Paul lived long enough to see all his 'prophecies' hitting in to the net.

I think it is a conspiracy...

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

Spellbinding moments. Four seconds before you suddenly understand it, when you see that a U-turn moment has arrived when everything seems to be frozen on the ground and all the 22 players are on the same side and a defender suddenly impossibly misses an easy blockage which leads the pass to an attacker who was never supposed to get it and be with it to the goal post where a goalkeeper is not standing on the spot where he was supposed to be there at that moment.

I've read that octopus lifespans are pretty short.  :'(
