I don't watch a lot of tv, but when I do watch tv, "Discovery Health" was one of my favorite channels to watch. They had specials on there about different rare diseases or people with genetic problems that I found to be really interesting. My favorite show on there was "Mystery Diagnosis", I used to watch every episode I could of that. Then there were other shows on there I'd watch sometimes.
Now at the beginning of next year, it's going to be replaced with the Oprah Winfrey Channel, using the initials "OWN", as in, I suppose "I totally owned your favorite channel, whitey"
I'm really sad my favorite channel will now be gone
Animal Planet has been pretty much ruined with shows that have nothing to do with animals. I guess I can still watch National Geographic sometimes.
I used their form to send a message to Discovery viewer relations:
"Please don't cancel Mystery Diagnosis. Please move it to TLC or another channel when DHC is shut down. I really enjoy Mystery Diagnosis. There are also many specials on Discovery Health that I have enjoyed watching such as those about people with rare genetic diseases. I feel like I learn so much about the human experience through these shows. I'm very unhappy to learn that my favorite channel, DHC, will be shut down and replaced with an "Oprah" channel, which I have absolutely zero interest in watching. I'm very upset about this and I'd like to know if there's a way to help the channel to survive or at least some of its best programs. "
I doubt my letter will do any good. Why anyone would want to watch some idiotic Oprah channel I have no idea.
