MIKE HUCKABEE WINS S CAROLINA STRAW POLL...
« on: April 03, 2011, 10:44:31 PM »

Mike Huckabee won a GOP straw poll in crucial early state South Carolina, further solidifying his status as a front-runner in a 2012 field that is still taking shape.

Huckabee won the York County GOP event on Saturday, snaring 23 percent of the first-pick voters, party officials confirmed to POLITICO

Newt Gingrich was second, with 11 percent, and Michele Bachmann was third at 10 percent.

Mitt Romney snared 8 percent, and Donald Trump and Tim Pawlenty tied at 7 percent.

A slew of other would-be candidates, including nearby Southern-state governor Haley Barbour, Sarah Palin, Rick Santorum, John Bolton, Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, Ron Paul and Mitch Daniels all were on the ballot, but each failed to crack through five percent of support.

There were 152 ballots cast in the poll, which Huckabee called attention to through his Twitter feed on Saturday.

Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor, has remained popular in Iowa, where he won the caucuses in 2008, and in a string of Southern states, in the run-up to the 2012 campaign.

Sources close to him say he remains interested in running and is looking seriously at it, but he's done little by way of legwork toward a campaign.

Its amazing he does this without the funding.   All the people below in the polls him have far more funds.

בס''ד

Mike Huckabee won this straw poll without even campaigning. The other candidates are already actively campaigning for months now. So this is impressive.

I really hope that Huckabee runs, G-d willing. If he doesn't run, I am not optimistic about beating Barack Hussein Osama next year.
