In Evony an alliance is usually a group of players of the game who send each other resources, help each other when they're being attacked, etc.
Sometimes there are joke alliances made just to be funny. For example the other day someone made Walmart, Target, and Kmart alliances and had them go to 'war' with each other. When they do this there is a system message across that particular server showing that their status is now 'hostile' toward each other so everyone online could see the joke. Now those alliances have been erased. Around the Superbowl sometimes people will make alliances of the different teams and have them go to war and this shows up as a system message.
I don't think anyone even made this alliance they just made up the name for it which they posted in 'world chat':
[Dip]: Alliance BodyBags is looking for muslims to fill vacancies
I told them that was a good one.
