the gates of gehenom/hell
« on: June 24, 2007, 09:43:25 PM »
I recently visited Las Vegas (had a familiy member to visit there who lives outside the city) and drove down to the 'strip'.

Seeing the thousands upon thousands of billboards and the type of culture there, I really felt like this place is the gates of hell and that many people have gone to gehenom/hell from this place.

The amount of gambling, drugs, and perversion is obscene.

I wonder if the Torah talks about places like this or if there were any equivalents in the ancient world because it really looked like a sort of spiritual phenomena...like a dense concentration of these evil forces in one place with such a glittering exterior (and the fact that it is in the desert adds to it).

Maybe the place isn't 100% bad.

But even riding in a limousine I was a disgusted thinking that I might be sitting in a place where hookers had sex in the past few days.

I recently visited Las Vegas to see some family members (they live outside the main city and rarely go to the casinoes except sometimes to see shows)

I borrowed a family member's car and drove down to the 'strip'.

Yes, indeed.  I've had the displeasure of visiting Las Vegas MANY times, and I can say without reservation that it is the most degenerate place on the face of the Earth.

If the muslims blew up Las Vegas, it would actually be a GOOD thing.

Las Vegas is the modern day Sodom no doubt.

One does not deal with terrorists; one does not bargain with terrorists; one kills terrorists.

Remember that some people live in that city for reasons other than gambling.  I was given a job offer there many years ago. Also note that there is gambling and brothels throughout the entire state. Vegas is just the most famous.
Does it bother you that you have to face the dome and the rock to say the sh'ma?

Prostitution is technically illegal in Las Vegas.

There may be some good people there, but they should get out!

The one time I went to Vegas, I thought the exact same thing.

I'll never forget the people with kids who would beg for a dollar, then run inside the casino and put it in a machine.
