Was Rambam was a Muslim plant?
« on: May 16, 2012, 12:46:08 AM »
Have you heard this one?

Rambam was actually a muslim.... There are some commentators who believe he actually was a muslim who kept his Judaism in private...

PS: I changed the title just so nobody would actually think this is serious.

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

I heard of this, it's absolutely insane and hows how delusional all the anti-Jewish establishment is.

Rambam was no crypto-Jew. Last time I checked, it's Rambam who is hailed as the greatest sage in Judaism ever! Rambam's writings have no significance in the islamic religion nor is he on any fakestinian or arab cultural artifacts. If they want to claim him then maybe they should explain how the writings of a "moslim" man are about Judaism or how a moslim would write the Mishna Torah, 13 Principles of faith.
I mean come on, how many commentaries on the "hadith" did he write? 0!

Or they can explain how he made aliyah to Israel (even though he and his family left to Egypt a little afterwards) but it still counts!

It's ridiculous.

Yes, I don't believe this but it is out there... And Rambams work was despised at the time he wrote it...

I know wikipedia is not the place to learn Jewish belief but here is what the wiki says on this topic:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maimonides

Quote
During the reign of Almoravids, the position of the Jews was apparently free of significant abuses,[11] but after another Berber dynasty Almohads conquered Córdoba in 1148, they threatened the Jewish community with the choice of conversion to Islam, death, or exile,[10] although the historical records of abuses against Jews in the immediate post-1148 period are subject to different interpretations.[12] Many Jews were also forced to convert or to wear identifying clothing.[13] Maimonides's family, along with most other Jews, chose exile. Some say, though, that it is probable Maimonides feigned a conversion to Islam before escaping,[11] his forced conversion was ruled legally invalid per Islamic law when brought up by a rival in Egypt.[12] For the next ten years Maimonides moved about in southern Spain, eventually settled in Fes in Morocco, where he studied at the University of Al-Karaouine. During this time, he composed his acclaimed commentary on the Mishnah in the years 1166–1168.[14]

Clearly a Muslim, definitly. That is why he referred to Mohammed as "the madman" in his epistle to the Jews in Yemen.
.   ד  עֹזְבֵי תוֹרָה, יְהַלְלוּ רָשָׁע;    וְשֹׁמְרֵי תוֹרָה, יִתְגָּרוּ בָם
4 They that forsake the law praise the wicked; but such as keep the law contend with them.

ה  אַנְשֵׁי-רָע, לֹא-יָבִינוּ מִשְׁפָּט;    וּמְבַקְשֵׁי יְהוָה, יָבִינוּ כֹל.
5 Evil men understand not justice; but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
