Apple Quicktime was stealing the MP3 file associations in people's browsers (whether they wanted it or not). That awful program has a bug that if you listen to an MP3 online, it randomly locks up. You would think a multi-billion dollar global corporation would actually fix it.
To prevent Apple Quicktime from highjacking Firefox you can do the following:- In the address bar, instead of a URL, type: ‘about:config’
- Type plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types (or copy and paste) into the filter box at the top of the page
- If it already exists and contains a value, add ‘,audio/mpeg’ to the end of it, otherwise just change the value to ‘audio/mpeg’
- Restart Firefox
