Russia has come to understand the fears of the protracted war and the consequent 'mutual destruction' in Syria. In order to improve the overall situation, Russia shall reduce the help to Assad, so that both sides get balanced.

Russia and the Arab League have called for dialogue between the government and the opposition in Syria and agreed to push the warring sides to do so.
Mr. Lavrov will receive his Syrian counterpart Walid Al-Muallem in Moscow next week, and the head of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Moaz Alkhatib, is “likely” to visit Russia in March, the Russian Foreign Minister said.

Peace talks are a welcome step. But such peace talks with muslamics can ultimately lead to both Russia and Arab League directly getting involved in this protracted war on different warring sides.
