The European Union has declared the military wing of Hizbollah to be a terrorist organisation in a major victory for British diplomacy and William Hague, the Foreign Secretary.

Russia pushes ahead with arms shipments to Syria:
Russia is to push ahead with a delivery of S-300 air defence batteries to Syria, the Arab country's deputy prime minister has confirmed.
The surface-to-air missile systems would make it hard to enforce a no-fly zone over Syria, a measure called for by some opponents of Mr Assad.

This deal is excellent from the point of view of prolonging the protracted war of muslamic infighting.

Bashar al-Assad's militias 'cleansing' Homs of Sunni Muslims:
Bashar al-Assad's militias are "cleansing" towns and villages of their Sunni Muslim inhabitants across the Syrian province of Homs, refugee families and residents have told The Daily Telegraph.
The "Shabiha", a loyalist militia drawn largely from the Syrian president's Alawite sect, is systematically looting and then destroying the homes of any Sunnis who have fled the province, a key battleground in the country's civil war.
"They pushed out the rebel fighters and now they are trying to push out all the Sunnis," said Bilal, a 23-year-old from the Sunni village of Talkalakh in Homs province. "They took our houses, threatened us, destroyed our villages."
They used to scream down from their villages 'we are coming for you. We don't want Sunni's on our land'."

Syria intervention 'could cost US billions of dollars':
US military intervention in Syria would cost “billions” of dollars a year and would almost inevitably drag the country into a conflict it could not control, the country’s top general has warned.
“Once we take action, we should be prepared for what comes next,” he wrote. “Deeper involvement is hard to avoid.”
Gen Dempsey said five options were now under consideration by the White House – training the opposition, long-range strikes, a no-fly zone, creating rebel buffer zones and commando raids to secure chemical weapon stocks.

Global economy facing big crisis, the additional expenditure of money is to be a big question. Hence hardware being taken out of Afghanistan can be used in Syria.

Syria civil war death toll passes 100,000 people:
Syria’s civil war has claimed over 100,000 lives, the UN announced on Thursday, after the number of deaths rose by more than 7,000 in just over a month.
Ban Ki-moon, the UN Secretary General, used the announcement of the landmark death toll to appeal for new efforts to convene a peace conference to end the Syrian conflict that began with protests against President Bashar al-Assad in March 2011.
“More than 100,000 people have been killed, millions of people have either been displaced or become refugees in neighbouring countries,” Mr Ban said.

And I was thinking that this figure of 100000 was already reached by last month. Anyhow they should keep this progress at a much accelerated pace.
