David Cameron to give Syria ultimatum:

David Cameron is pressing for United Nations action against Syria following the gassing of thousands of civilians in a suburb of Damascus.

The Prime Minister spoke with President Barack Obama by telephone to ask for help with convening an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council.

He wants to put forward a “game-changing” resolution that would give the Syrian government, led by Bashar al-Assad, “one last chance” to disarm.

Mr Cameron is said to have been left sickened by images of children killed by the chemical weapons. One charity yesterday said at least 355 people had died and 10 times that number were treated for poisoning. Britain and France have blamed the Assad regime for the chemical attack.

On Saturday night four American destroyers were moving closer to Syria, armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles, which are capable of precision strikes.

The move risks a public row with Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, who does not want any action taken against his ally.

But US officials were studying the Kosovo conflict, in which Nato launched weeks of air strikes without UN support and in the teeth of Russian opposition.

President Assad’s regime has denied that it has used chemical weapons, describing the claims as “absolutely baseless”.

Kudos to Cameron for the immense humanitarian task that he supposedly thinks he will handle.

Intervention in Syria would be 'tragic mistake', warns Russia:

Russia said that the West would be making a "tragic mistake" by launching military strikes on its ally Syria as the international community headed for a repeat of the bitter diplomatic showdowns that preceded military action in Iraq and Kosovo.

Moscow warned the West not to pre-empt the work of the United Nations inspection team that is due to investigate last week's alleged chemical attack.

A Russian foreign ministry spokesman drew parallels with the US-led overthrow of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein to justify its stance – a comparison rejected by Britain and America.

"All this is reminiscent of events from a decade ago, when the United States bypassed the UN and used fallacious information on the presence in Iraq of weapons of mass destruction to launch an adventure, the consequences of which are known to all."

But Western officials rejected those parallels, emphasising that they believed there was overwhelming evidence that Bashar al-Assad's forces had used chemical weapons in a deadly attack on a Damascus suburb.

But President Barack Obama seems increasingly likely to authorise targeted US cruise missile strikes against key Syrian military and command and control facilities.

He convened a rare Saturday meeting of all his top national security officials for three hours at the White House, followed by a 40-minute telephone call with David Cameron, the Prime Minister.

Although a senior Obama aide said that the president had not yet authorised a response, there are strong moves within the Administration to order Tomahawk cruise missile strikes from four US Naval ships now stationed in the eastern Mediterranean. US aircraft flying outside Syrian airspace could also be used to fire airborne rockets.

Shimon Peres, the Israeli president, meanwhile, called for an "international attempt to take out all the chemical weapons in Syria".

The Obama administration is looking at the 1999 Nato air war in Kosovo as a precedent for launching military strikes without UN backing. On that occasion, despite Russian and Chinese opposition, Western governments cited their responsibility to protect a civilian population as grounds for its bombing campaign.

Forget it all and the west shall invade against the Syria.

Saudis offer Russia secret oil deal if it drops Syria:

Saudi Arabia has secretly offered Russian a sweeping deal to control the global oil market and safeguard Russia’s gas contracts, if the Kremlin backs away from the Assad regime in Syria.

This is most likely to be a hoax.

Military action in Syria would spark Middle East war, warns Lord Carey:

Opposition in the Church to military action in Syria is growing after the former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Carey warned it could lead to a regional war.

He said that despite a sense of "moral outrage" at the use of chemical weapons by the regime, armed intervention would drag the UK into a war which could engulf the whole of the Middle East.

And he voiced surprise that David Cameron is even contemplating a military response after slashing the armed forces to a "pitiful degree".

In voicing outright opposition to an attack, Lord Carey went further than the current Archbishop, the Most Rev Justin Welby, who urged MPs not to "rush to judgment" and consider the wider impact across the Muslim world.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Archbishop Welby warned of potential "unforeseeable" consequences of stepping in.

War and muslamic infighting within the muslamic middle east shall escalate with whatever the consequences. West should move accordingly.

Syria's UN ambassador accuses Britain of conspiring with rebels in chemical weapons attack:

Syria's ambassador to the United Nations has accused Britain of conspiring with rebel forces to carry out the chemical attack that killed hundreds of Syrian civilians last week.

However, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Bashar Ja’afari made the outlandish claim that David Cameron’s government had in fact supplied Syrian opposition forces with the necessary arms in an attempt to fool the world.

“The delivery system was offered by Britain,” said Mr Ja’afari, who described the attack as a “heinous crime” committed by “terrorists”.

Asked to confirm he meant the rockets had indeed been supplied by the UK, he said: “Absolutely — to drag western powers into this war... Syria is a victim of foreign interference in our domestic affairs.”

He claimed rebel fighters put the chemical weapons together in “secret laboratories in Turkey” before using them to kill their compatriots. The allegations were dismissed as absurd by British sources.

No such blames shall deter the UK from attacking Syria and spreading the wars in muslamic middle east. After all it is their duty to establish and save the muslamic democracies.
