Too many Sticky Threads?
« on: November 08, 2012, 10:12:49 PM »
Does anyone else feel that there are way too many 'Sticky Threads'? Or is it just me?

You shall make yourself the Festival of Sukkoth for seven days, when you gather in [the produce] from your threshing floor and your vat.And you shall rejoice in your Festival-you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite, and the stranger, and the orphan, and the widow, who are within your cities
Duet 16:13-14

I know we always use this expression, but what is a sticky thread?

Ezekiel 33:6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the horn, and the people be not warned, and the sword do come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.

A sticky thread is a topic that always remains at the top of the forum.

Much better, thank you Mishmaat...

Thanks Muman. But then aren't threads that are bumped up the most 'popular,' so to speak, and in that case, the most talked about by interest?

Not wanting to bump this thread back up to the top but without the power to prevent it (or something like that)...

The answer is NO... A sticky thread is different from a thread bumped to the top, because sticky threads never get bumped down, they are 'sticky' because they stick to the top, sorta like bubble-gum underneath the desk... Pardon my analogy...

So an admin needs to unsticky them in order for them to no longer stick under the top of the list.

The reason this is of concern to me is because when I read the forum from home I am using my computer on a 42 inch big screen, with my font bumped up to like 18pt or even 24pt at times, so I can read it from half-way across the room. When there are a lot of sticky threads it makes it so that only a few threads can be seen at a time... Anyway, that is why I asked if they could unsticky these threads...
