I agree as well. Ironically (and with all due respect to Lubavitch) Chabad conversions would not be valid in Israel either.
There are basically 5 types of Conversions situations I can think of: (if there are more, please let me know)
1) Israeli state conversion- accepted in Israel but not by the Israeli religious courts. Thus the "convert" cannot marry in Israel and is not considered Halachically Jewish.
(bad)2) State and Israeli Religious Court conversions- accepted by Israel and the court rabbis of the Israeli religious court system. The convert IS 100% Halachically accepted. (rabbinate reserves right to retroactively void conversions later if needed)
(good)3) Orthodox conversion abroad by any Rabbi-Not accepted by the state of Israel. Not accepted by the Israeli religious court.
(bad)4) Orthodox conversion by Israeli
approved Beis Din- Accepted by state of Israel and Religious court system. 100% Halachically Jewish (rabbinate holds right to void conversion at any time)
(good)5) Conservative, Reform foreign conversion- Accepted in Israel, automatic citizenship. NOT accepted by the Israeli religious court system. Not Jewish
(bad)-------------------------------------------------------------
Israel has a very selective list of who can perform conversions. Some states have no one who can convert potential converts and others have 1 or 2, maybe even 3 acceptable Orthodox rabbis many of who head batei din. For example, Chabad rabbi may sponsor the potential convert but cannot perform the conversion himself, it must be done through the Israeli approved Beis Din. Here is the list:
http://www.itim.org.il/eng/?CategoryID=208&ArticleID=209Let's say that Bernie meets a catholic girl and they want to marry and she converts with some random neighborhood Orthodox rabbi in Townly, Wisconsin. They try to move to Israel and are rejected because she would not be considered a Jew.
The list of those who can perform conversions are very strict and usually limited to a few acceptable Batei Din. Whether in LA or New York or even the UK this is the process. But it has to be an acceptable RCA or Israel accepted Sephardic Bais Din who perform the conversion only. Not some rabbi who does the conversions, that would not be accepted for aliyah to Israel.
So, I don't believe that orthodox fake converts are the root of all evil now that Israel has become stricter by rejecting fake Orthodox converts in Israel before entering (there are exceptions to this which I explain below)
The real issue is the sad fact that fake reform and conservative converts are able to get automatic Israeli citizenship after a year of their "conversion". These fake converts have no Jewish spark, no Jewish souls. They are complete Gentiles pretending to be Jews. As such, they will carry their Gentile beliefs to Israel and within their children, we see in generations their anti-semitic, anti-Israel ideologies come out. Perhaps some type of jealousy from knowing deep inside that they are not real Jews.
Orthodox Conversions are under the control of the Israel Religious Court system. The Israeli rabbinate will be careful to void any orthodox convert who is found to violate Shabbat, does not keep kosher etc, had false pretenses or did a conversion with a non-approved rabbi. Once the religious court declares someone to be a non-Jew they are barred from immigrating to Israel. I repeat, they cannot be granted Israeli citizenship. There may be some who fall through the cracks but Israel has been voiding conversions left and right. Many Orthodox converts in Israel have been told that the state no longer considers them Jews and they have to leave the country unless if they stay through a Jewish spouse or family.
It may take some time but that is when they go to the religious court to marry, marry their kids off etc... the Israeli court reviews their history and are declared to be non-Jews. If these people really cared, they would have gone to a strict and approved Beis Din, taking the time to do things the right and honest way.
However reform, conservative and reconstructionist conversions do not fall under the control of the Israeli religious court system and therefore Israel will give these fake non-Jews and their non-Jewish kids (if the mom is the fake convert) 100% full citizenship. The catch is that eventually the kids will not be allowed to marry Jews in Israel and may become liberal fakestinian loving neo-nazis when they feel rejected by Jews.
So the main issue is that reform and conservative gentiles who think they are Jews are given automatic Israeli citizenship. And now we have these fake Jews and their children running around Israel without respect for Torah. And what is worse is seeing many of these fake reform and conversative converts are not only given Israeli citizenship, many bring their liberal ideas and pro-gay agendas. Lesbian and gay "converts", female rabbis etc.. In essence, the reform and conservative systems are creating serious harm.
Another question- would not the reform and conservative systems create a lot of mamzerim if two Jews are "married" in their system and later "divorce" through their system?
