Relative of Hanin Zoabi wants her out of the Knesset
Abu Daoud Zoabi, cousin of Israeli-Arab MK Hanin Zoabi, signs petition asking that his cousin be prevented from seeking a seat in the next Knesset, saying his cousin "opposes the state and represents the Palestinians in Ramallah."

A petition to ban Israeli-Arab MK Hanin Zoabi (National Democratic Assembly) from running for a Knesset seat in the upcoming elections received an additional push from Zoabi's cousin, Abu Daoud Zoabi, on Thursday. Abu Daoud Zoabi signed a petition initiated by MK Danny Danon (Likud) asking that his cousin be prevented from seeking a seat in the next Knesset.
Upon adding his signature to the petition, which has so far been signed by 15,000 people, Abu Daoud Zoabi said "She doesn't represent us and is working from within the Knesset against the State of Israel. I don't understand how they are letting her do that."
Abu Daoud Zoabi added that his cousin "opposes the state and since she represents the Palestinians in Ramallah, let her live there."
Earlier this month, with just over three months remaining before the general election on January 22, the Central Elections Committee received two requests to ban Zoabi and Ahmed Tibi (Ra'am-Ta'al) from running for Knesset seats in the election.
Likud MK Ofir Akunis demanded that Zoabi be disqualified, citing the legal clause stipulating that "a list of candidates will not participate in elections for the Knesset, and an individual will not be a candidate for the Knesset, if the stated goals or actions of the list or individual support armed struggle by a foreign nation or a terrorist organization against the State of Israel."
Akunis sought Zoabi's removal on the grounds that she took part in the 2010 flotilla of aid ships that tried to breach Israel's blockade on Gaza. Zoabi was aboard the Mavi Marmara, a ship on which Israeli commandos, met with resistance, killed nine Turkish activists during a violent clash.
