Actually Yvette is a Moldovian, not a Russian.

Moldovians have a reputation in eastern Europe as being the second worst crooks after the Chechens. The only reason the Russians in Israel vote for Yvette is because he speaks Russian.

Remember that "Russian Jews" in Israel includes those from Russia, White Russia, Ukraine, Moldovia, Uzbekistan, Birobidjan, Georgia, Tadjikistan, Kazakstan etc. Although they all speak Russian, their mindsets are quite different.

DuMont Schauberg I think they own 25%. Another 20% or so are held by a Russian Oligarch Leonid Nevzlin. The controlling share is held by the Shoken which is the founding family. They are the Israeli version of the Sulzbergers.

HaAretz uses more advanced Hebrew. That's why they gave us articles from it to read in Hebrew class at Hebrew University.

The other Leftist papers in Israel are more like tabloids than actualy newspapers. Just think of the front page of Yahoo.com or in Israel msn.co.il and you'll so what I mean.

The Jerusalem Post is the English one. It's the lesser of the evils of the Establishement ones.
