I think that it's sad that the baby died but I'm glad the woman survived even if she had the remains inside her for all those years.

It's about a lithopedion, not a mummy. Which just means the baby died and the mother's body calcified it to protect the mother from getting a bad infection because of the dead body inside of her. I guess they called it a mummy because it was encased. I've seen other examples of this online too where there were ectopic pregnancies where the baby was growing somewhere outside the uterus and died and there were stone babies inside of women.

The article explains it well. The mother's body calcifies the dead baby. Think of an oyster in pearl production. A foreign object is placed in its body. Its system covers it with the substance we call pearl.
