Rabbi Kahanes Assassin involved in Larger Conspiracy
« on: February 26, 2013, 04:25:02 PM »
This may be old news but I just discovered it. Apparently the assassin of our great teacher and leader Rabbi Meir Kahane was involved in a much larger conspiracy, which it seems that the CIA may have covered up. I already was aware that there is a conspiracy involved with Rabbi Kahanes (ztl) death in New York, and it is evident that the man who pulled the trigger in front of many witnesses was never charged with murder (he only did time for weapons charges).

But apparently, according to the document I link to below, El Sayyid Nosair was involved in a conspiracy which was attempting to assassinate the PM of Israel, Ariel Sharon...

The man who killed Meir Kahane in 1990 claims he did not carry out the shooting alone, as previously thought, but was part of a three-man terrorist cell with links to al-Qaida. Its original target was future prime minister Ariel Sharon, according to a newly-leaked US government document.

During his investigation for an article into alleged counter- terrorism blunders published in Playboy magazine on Friday, freelance journalist Peter Lance uncovered official FBI memos which bring new information to light about the murder of the Israeli politician in New York.

According to the documents, Kahane’s killer, El-Sayyid Nosair, told detectives in 2005 that he had planned to assassinate Sharon, who was then Israel’s minister of housing and construction.

“Nosair further stated that Ariel Sharon was his original target and that he went to a hotel prior to Sharon’s coming to visit, but decided against it,” the document read.

He added that on the night he shot Kahane dead, he was accompanied by two co-conspirators to the Marriot Hotel in Manhattan where Kahane was speaking – one of whom was also carrying a gun.

Trial

During legal proceedings, Nosair largely ignored the court and focused on multiple sketches he made of Princess Diana.[3]

In a split verdict described by Jeffrey B. Abramson as "bizarre",[5] a jury in December 1991 acquitted Nosair of the murder but convicted him of assault and possession of an illegal firearm. He was also convicted of related charges, including shooting a U.S. Postal Inspection Service agent. He was defended by William Kunstler (along with two co-counsels), who at first advised him to plead insanity.[6] When Nosair refused, the defense argued that there had been a conspiracy against Nosair and Kahane might have been killed by one of his followers.[6] Kunstler saw the composition of the jury (which he described as being made up of "third-world people" and "people who were not yuppies or establishment types") as crucial to the verdict.[6]

The judge in the trial, Justice Alvin Schlesinger, said that the jury's acquittal of Nosair on the murder charge "was against the overwhelming weight of evidence and was devoid of common sense and logic". The judge added that "I believe the defendant conducted a rape of this country, of our Constitution and of our laws, and of people seeking to exist peacefully together." He sentenced Nosair to 7⅓ to 22 years in prison, the maximally allowed term.[7]

Kunstler also saw the split verdict as irrational, promising to appeal Nosair's convictions.[6]
